Dave - although I am in the "12 gauge pump camp", I certainly understand your situation. I think you have a good "master plan" for breaking in your wife and daughter! When I went through the same thing with my wife, I bought an old Ruger Mark I pistol at a gun show. She really enjoys shooting it, and her only complaint is the 6 7/8" barrel - she would prefer the shorter 4" one.

Please let us know what you end up with, and best of luck! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />Tom

Hey again, I should repeat if you jumped in late "Jeff" the whole reason I am shooting for a 22 is to break Mama in s l o w l y to holding and shooting. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

I want her to enjoy the lack of recoil, the tiny holes it will put in Coke cans in the backyard and the way our daughter enjoys shooting it as well. All are designed to build up confidence in her. To establish a foothold where firearms ain't killing machines of death! But can for a few pennies on a Sunday afternoon provide hours of plinking fun! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Then next year we will graduate...see the master plan..... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />

MUUHHAAAAAA!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Peace. or war? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I see now, the "Master Plan". <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I believe both Charter arms and Smith and Wesson make a small snub nosed .22 Can't get much smaller and "cute". Snub nose revolvers generally take a back seat today to the semi autos of larger calibers. I think you will find that if you are ever considering carrying the gun outside the home, the easier it is to carry the more often you will carry it. The lightweight snub noses are very easy to carry in every season. I have a full size Sig. I don't carry as often as I would like to due to the size and weight. It is difficult to conceal in the summer as well. I am searching for a snub nose, probably in .38 for just such a reason. It does not make sense to own a weapon for defense and never carry it. Above all else, practice with it.

The Mafia really likes the Ruger .22's with a suppressor.

I used to have an old single action .22 revolver that was tons of fun ,had less recoil than a pellet gun and because it was such a long barrel it was fun and accurate.

Actually stopping with one .22 never even occurred to me.

Good luck with convincing your better half POP. A nice nonthreatening .22 is probably the best choice in carefully wooing her over.

The last pistol I got my wife was a nice S&W 32 revolver. That's about as small as I like to go for a home defense pistol. One of the things that I think my wife really liked about it was that it had a little more punch and power, but at the same time the S&W frame was light enough and the pistol didn't kick much. It's still her favorite gun.

She's a pretty good shot with it too. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

PoP,
Six hundred smackers for the CZ is bizarro. The shop a town over has the hard chromed .40 for 430 bucks.

My wife has been handgun shopping, for awhile. Unfortunately, she has her heart set on a line of titanium revolvers that taurus stopped making last year.

She did come home last night with a new carbine. A Marlin camp carbine, in 9mm. $250, with a box of ammo and a case thrown in. Her first independant gun purchase; I was quite proud.

By the way, the Marlin is a really nice carbine. I do recommend it.
