I really just want to baton this thing through a tree with a hammer. Don’t do that. Never hit something hard with something else hard. It can cause microfractures, and can eventually cause your knife to break. (yes, even something from the Busses) Always hit it with something softer, like a wood baton.

well, what if all i have is a hammer huh!? jk, if I did do this, I'd put a something in between the two, maybe like a thing pice of wood or something, but really, I would trust this knife if i had to hammer on it, I've hammered on knives that aren't this good and they keep taking it so i doubt it will really cause too much damage.

A guy on BF broke his SRKW M6 by beating on it with a pipe wrench. But, it did take him like 6-8 hours to do so. I’d send the link, but the search is turned off on BF. Maybe someone else with a membership can link you to it. Jerry posted that hitting the steel with something hard causes microfractures that can eventually worsen and cause it to break. If it’s all you have and an emergency, that’s one thing. But it’s not a good idea because it can damage it and causes to weakening and it could break on you when you need it most. So, don’t use a hammer, rock, etc. Always something soft to absorb the impact like a branch. There should be no shortage of those in the field.

well, I mean form the knifetests.com test (I KNOW I KNOW, please lets not start an argument here!) the knife seems like it can take a fair amount of hammering, maybe it will weaken it, but really, microfractures!? that scrapper 6 kept going with a heck of a lot more than micro fractures. It did better than most intact knives with huge tears rips and chunks taken out of it. I doubt micro fractures will do this knife in. other knives (possibly even swamprats) weaken ALOT when even small chips are taken out of them, I don't think that about scrapyards. I have full confidence in them.
although I doubt I will hammer on it really. and I do understand what you are saying. I don't want to sound like some arrogant little kid who doesn't know what he's talking about.(which I might just be, but hey, I'm stuborn) I know what you're saying, but until I see for myself that I should think otherwise I have the utmost amount of faith in this/these knives.
but anyways I did baton with it (not splitting) like to get throught this about 2 inch diameter hardwood and it only took about a minute and little effort. really awesome knife, I love it.

wow, he too chunks out of the spine of that thing. if that happened I would stop, but like I said, I think a scrapyard would keep going for a while, i've seen bigger chuks taken out of it and it still keep going. but I don't think I will hammer on it THAT much, maybe a little though.
and did some guy really shoot a battle rat with a 30-30?! lol omg.
