However, if Dan happened to make an S7 with a Chopweiler type blade, that would be cool, too.
Something like this?:
Next to Chopweiler:
I think the Chopweiler has more power than the YardGuard and is a better chopper IMO, but I do feel the YardGuard is HIGHLY under appreciated.
I think the Yard Guard makes a pretty decent all-around use mid-sized knife.
With the Yard Guard having a 7.25" blade, I don't know how likely it will be for us to see a similar sized blade. The Yard Guard didn't seem to get enough love (????).
Personally, I didn't get the Yard "Hook". I don't see how the hook could be desirable. Just in the way to me. The Yard Guard is much more "user" friendly.
I suspect many people who have the Hook would have appreciated the Guard more.
The Yard Guard is not too far off from the VERY much loved Camp Tramp.
However, if Dan would Take the Chopweiler blade - preferrably with my minor modifications: Choil in closer, smaller guard and pointier blade than the Camp Tramp, I think the Scrap Yard version of the Chopweiler/Camp Tramp would bring the best of both worlds between the Yard Guard and Chopweiler. I think a knife from Scrap Yard like in the above picture might be in the top 2 or so of the best knives released from Scrap Yard - INSTANT Classic (IMO).
The Res-C handles are very comfortable and great for choppers. They are also significantly lighter than the full tang micarta handles. To me, the Res-C handles also make the blades faster and more nimble in the hand. Plus, the weight reduction is better for carry.
Since the Yard Guards and Hooks had a 7.25" blade, the Scrap-Weiler would probably need a blade about 7.5" - 8" (????).
