Ok, so I was wondering if anyone has done a Yardgaurd or Yardhook and Chopweiler comparison. I am wondering how they compare because I really want a Chopweiler, but I think I may have to sell off my Yardgaurd to get one. I know there are a few of you who don't like the recurve, but that doesn't bother me. The main reason I would want a Chopweiler is the blade shape is cool looking, and I like the solid feel of full tang/micarta. However, if Dan happened to make an S7 with a Chopweiler type blade, that would be cool, too.

Personally I prefer the Ratweiler because it's a little more bush friendly, imho, than the Yardguard. Plus I keep my Ratweiler in a piggyback sheath along with a swamp warden. It's going to make for a great bush/camp set up.

I prefer the RW over the YG because of the recurve. A recurve isn't that much more work in maintaining the blade, but I'm drawn to simple and easier when it comes to maintaining/sharpening things.

I think the Chopweiler has more power than the YardGuard and is a better chopper IMO, but I do feel the YardGuard is HIGHLY under appreciated.

I think the Yard Guard makes a pretty decent all-around use mid-sized knife.
With the Yard Guard having a 7.25" blade, I don't know how likely it will be for us to see a similar sized blade. The Yard Guard didn't seem to get enough love (????).

Personally, I didn't get the Yard "Hook". I don't see how the hook could be desirable. Just in the way to me. The Yard Guard is much more "user" friendly.
I suspect many people who have the Hook would have appreciated the Guard more.

The Yard Guard is not too far off from the VERY much loved Camp Tramp.

However, if Dan would Take the Chopweiler blade - preferrably with my minor modifications: Choil in closer, smaller guard and pointier blade than the Camp Tramp, I think the Scrap Yard version of the Chopweiler/Camp Tramp would bring the best of both worlds between the Yard Guard and Chopweiler. I think a knife from Scrap Yard like in the above picture might be in the top 2 or so of the best knives released from Scrap Yard - INSTANT Classic (IMO).

The Res-C handles are very comfortable and great for choppers. They are also significantly lighter than the full tang micarta handles. To me, the Res-C handles also make the blades faster and more nimble in the hand. Plus, the weight reduction is better for carry.

Since the Yard Guards and Hooks had a 7.25" blade, the Scrap-Weiler would probably need a blade about 7.5" - 8" (????).

That would be perfect! I love the way that looks! This makes me think I should just wait for whatever Dan has to offer next since his knives are more affordable and still indestructible! I can only hope that the Yard will see something like this soon!

It is a Photo shop/chopped (Chopper) concept.... Not real, but I wish. I think it looks pretty real myself, but the alterations to the guard are not well done... ...... Hopefull, good enough to get the idea across for what I personally prefer anyway.

I actually have only posted these pics one time and it was on a 2nd page of another thread - No specific thread started for this concept, so many people probably missed it.

I posted here: Camp Dog !!! - thread

.... Maybe I should start an actual thread?.... Get more people on the bus!!!
