I hope everything works out alright, I know how hard these situations are, 2 years ago I had to nurse my father for almost 6 months as brain cancer finally took over and destroyed him. All I can suggest is to talk with him as much as either of you can. I'm sure another man in that weakened state would slip away if they didnt have that will and determination to keep fighting that your loved ones give you. So being there to constantly remind them what theyre fighting for is really all you can do.

Good luck, and stay strong.

Not much more news, but here’s an update. Now they’re saying he’s only getting 20% of the blood through his heart that he should. We were told that in his current state, they estimate he could live a couple more months. He’s on a medicine that’s helping him improve, but they said he couldn’t stay on it long and it was toxic to his body. When Mom and Dad visited him, they called me on the cell so he could talk to me. He said he was alright, and proud of me for coming back to college because he was afraid I’d never end up going back to finish. Later Mom told me he was shaking so hard when he was holding the phone she was surprised I couldn’t hear it rattle. He’s been doing physical therapy to help him get stronger. He likes to joke around and is called “ornery” by a lot of people. Even though it’s hard for him to get his breath to talk, Mom said an old man went by his door with a walker, and he yelled to him “Hey young man! No running in the halls!” and the old man said back “I don’t think I could if I wanted to.” He always tries to be funny and make people laugh, even in as bad of shape as he is. I think that’s about all the news I can think of right now.

Glad to hear that his spirits are still high Andy! I think that cures and helps more folks than medical science.

Thanks for the update.

sorry about that andy, but at least he still has high spirits.
it would be bad if he was just sad and down and not the same in(what could be) his final months you know?

and like coldone said, its just about keeping your spirits high.
I'm praying for you and your family man.
take care.

Our thoughts are with you. I hope he pulls through. It is funny how the support of a Grandparent for your goals and aspirations can be more meaningful than your parents. Stay in school and make them both proud regardless.

I just got some good news about Grandpa that I wanted to update you guys on. Mom just called and said Aunt Rhonda was at the hospital and called her. She said the physical therapy people are re-teaching him how to do everything like tie his shoes and stuff. Mom said she heard him yell “Look! I can pick my own nose!” [Linked Image from msn-emotions.com] She said he was greatly improved, and could maybe go home in a week or so! Mom said (I believe it was) Uncle Gene and Aunt Marilyn’s daughter (Gene is Grandpa’s brother) worked for the Dr. who was seeing him, and she said he could go the rest of his life and never have another episode like this. She also agreed that the surgery wasn’t a good idea. If I hear anything else, I’ll let you know. Thanks for all the prayers!
