welcome mate
the yardhook would be great for you, I trust that thing with my life and it will be the blade I carry when I join

if you are a tanker though I would go for the dmcg, it looks like a stout little blade
I think there is one on the yahoo exchange right now with a custom tan kydex sheath for a good price

Welcome to the Yard jforbush and thanks for your service. You should be able to find something in the after market for a fair price. Although the S6 is close in size to the BK7 you have, I really like the feel of the S6 in hand. It just feels good, probably not all that helpful, but it's true.

Rumor has it that Dan has something else in the works soon from the Yard and who knows, it may be right up your alley. Never having been in the military, I am not sure what tools would be best for what you do, but for a bigger blade I like the S6 (.25" stock), for a smaller blade (which is usually what I carry), I am really liking the recent release, the Yard Keeper Combat Grade (3/16th" stock) aka the YKCG or the Dumpster Mutt LE (.25" stock) aka the DMLE. Although LE versions are shiney which is probably not a good thing for you.

The S6 is the 4th blade from the right and the DMLE is the second blade from the right.

The YKCG is below. I don't have a comparrison pic.

Welcome to the Yard!

The S6 is likely what you would need and these gentlemen are steering you in the right direction. As for sheaths, as mentioned above, Rainwalker and Leatherface are the guys for the job.

the s6 is a great knife (so I hear) but for amazing toughness the dumpster mutt is a great bomb proof knife.

To put how tough it is in perspective, 15 seconds before this shot was taken, the truck was charging me at about 50 miles an hour!

No dogs were harmed during this incident. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /><img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

The closest Yard analogue in knife size to a RAT 3 and a Becker 7 would be a Yard Keeper CG for the small knife and a Yard Guard or Yard Hook for the big one. The YKCG is .375 (That’s 3/16”) at the spine with a 4 ½” long blade. That’s your utility slicer. The .280 (above ¼”) thick by 7” YG or YH would be you prying and chopping blade, though either of them can also slice. All these knives are made of tough SR-77 steel.

The Scrapper 4 with a 4” blade of INFI steel would be closer in size to a RAT 3. But it’s hard to come by and expensive if you can find it.

(Thickness of the YKCG corrected by Eatingmuchface.)

Actually 3/16 is .1875... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
