I'm a guy with two addictions - knives and guitars - right now I'm on a bit more of a guitar kick. Magnum22 is another guitar nuts JYD - (and insanely talented, I may add - those of us who have had the chance to hear some of his clips can tell you that without a doubt!).

Anyways - if any of you guys are lurking out there, I'd love to see some pix of your gear and BS guitars a little!

I've got about a dozen electric guitars and some acoustics - and I play one of them! My list is: ESP F100, Epiphone Les Paul Custom, Epiphone Les Paul Studio Goth, Epiphone Casino, Ibanez EX350, Ibanez Talman TC825, Two Knockoff Fender Strats (pretty good copies that I got in Korea), a Jay Turser Eagle DC, a Jay Turser bass, Ibanez Artwood Acoustic, Schecter Diamond Acoustic, Ovation Copy, Tanara Acoustic, Art Lutherie acoustic (on permanent loan to a buddy), Oscar Schmidt acoustic, and my baby:

My Made in Japan Epiphone Elitist Les Paul Custom:

She's got a one piece neck, long neck tenon, Gibson USA electronics and hardware, bone nut, and real abalone and mother of pearl inlays.

I recently soldered in some 50 year old Sprague Vitamin Q Capacitors in this beast - makes a huge difference! She sounds like a vintage Gibson:

My 1/2 Stack is a Laney GH50 tube head on a Laney 4x12 cab:

I also have a little Laney 30w practice amp - also shown is my newest overdrive box - a Behringer Vintage Tube Monster - all tube overdrive coming from a 12AX7 tube:

For kicks, heres my Casino:

Talman and an acoustic (part of it!)

My first guitar - the Ibanez EX350 - pardon the 12 year old messy picture and lack of strings on this bad boy:

Ovation Clone:

When the Epi LP Custom was new:

Strat that I painted:

The Eagle:

The ESP:

Gear that I've parted with (sadly, in my dumber younger years):
Pearl drum set:

Crate Blue Voodoo 120w tube head w/ 4/12 cab:

Gibson Les Paul Studio (really miss this one):

The last 4 pix are pieces of gear that I've sold. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

That kit was an older Pearl Maxwin, with Zildjian and Sabian cymbals. I sure miss it!

A pic of my Fender P-Bass. I sold my 2 large amps a while ago. My practice amp is not worthy of being in a picture taken by my new Elph camera.

I sold that set about 8 years ago when I left for college.

Thanks Nick!

My next guitar purchase is going to be a Gibson Historic, either a '58 plain top or '59 flame top Re-Issue. I hijacked these pix - whatever one I get, it'll have the darker burst.

(that is just a sticker on the pickguard)

Terry - my MIJ Epiphone Elitist is HANDS DOWN a better guitar than any of the lower end Gibsons - to include the one that I sold. I'd argue that the only Gibsons that are better than it is are from the Custom Shop.

There is supposed to be a new (non custom shop) Gibson Slash model coming out - with the long neck tenon (like on my Elitist) - which will be a heck of a guitar for $2,500 or so. Those historics above are between $3-5.5k depending on the top on them (they're Custom Shop w/ vintage long neck tenon).

The long tenon is the "vintage" method for attaching the neck - it has a deeper set neck w/ the "longer tenon" - in 1969, Gibson went with a shorter cheaper tenon, which really kills your resonance and sustain. Right now, only Epiphone Elitists and Gibson Custom Shop guitars still use them. Although, the new Slash models will all have the long tenon as well (in the regular Epiphone and regular Gibson lineup!)

Here's a picture:

Vintage Gibsons (mid '69 and prior), Gibson Historics, and Epiphone Elitists use the long tenon. Post '69 Gibsons use the short. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the difference and predict the outcome of that cost reducing change!
