Man your big black chevy is nice. What engine does it have? I would have loved the 5.7/350 but the 5.0/305 is powerful enough and better on gas. I just love the classic 350 though. I needed the full bed to hual my bikes but there is nothing cooler than the 454SS or 350SS shortboxes.

It's got the small V8. It's my primary vehicle so the gas mileage was a consideration and it has all the power I need. My last one was a short bed regular cab. I prefer that set-up but life and needs change. I haul four people more now than I did then.

I've only had a couple of auto's in my life.
When I was younger all my cars and trucks were standard.
It takes me about 1 3/4 to 2 hours each way going to work and back, after 20 years of doing it with a standard, it got OLD (at least an hour each way in stop and go traffic).
My daily driver is an 05 sunfire and then my wife drives the truck.
My jeep is just a week end plaything.

From previous storm experience, one of the main things in a BOV would be the ability to go long distances without re-fueling. There were too many stranded vehicles stranded with empty gas tanks.

I would throw my quad and or motorbike in the back.

You really should stay home for at least the first 48 hours if you have any choice. 99% of emergency's last less than 48 hours and the numbers drop again after 72 so if you can live comfy at home rather than being another panicking idiot in a car with no plan that is the way to go.

I am buying a quarter section and using my vehicles more for patrol and foraging than transport. When i was a kid I loved the GI Joe toys like the dune buggy and battletanks etc and now that I am a very immature adult I own the real ones!

I am a total history buff so I was thinking of getting a 1800's small artillery piece for my front lawn but actually have the cannonballs and cannister to use it.

It would be easy to get a WW2 one but hard to find shells. A Blackpowder cannon would be fun at events as well.

Indian attack is a very real danger in my parts. There is one Bridge in my town and you would have to go 5 or 6 hours in either direction each way if it were
cut off. There are several ferries so anyone taking the north could control access easily. Right now you can drive tanks across the ice though.

Racial tensions are pretty high. We are oen really bad month from being like kenya. 40 years ago the local tribes could have weathered the collapse of all other society and the world economy pretty well, but now they would be a little less screwed than us.
