playing around during the ganza last night....i modded my DF kydex sheath.
i gorilla glued the ends of the paracord (so i can use the rest if needed), swithched out the paracord that came with it with some heavier stuff for the leg tie down, and added one of my paracord lanyards with a latch hook-in effect i made it a dangler....and it is a good looking rig now.

Nice mods! The DF sheath is rather plain. Dressing it up with useful paracord accessories is a great idea.

I've been playing with my yk sheath and heated and titened it where I wanted it and stuff and now I have the oerfect fit.
I would like to try and get into making some kydex sheaths.
I know j33ps had a tutorila, but idk where.

What's up with the kydex sheaths? All my factory ones seem quite tight; should I loosen the screws or does kydex tend to "break in" after a while. I should probably take a few minutes to read the paperwork that came with the sheaths -- it might explain that. Instead, I just tossed them into my "I'll deal with that later" pile. This thread reminded me that I still need to do something about them.

hmmm... well mine came too tight to fit the knife in so I took all the metal out(screws) and heated the kydex for about a minute(util it got just slighly soft) and slid the knife in the sheath a few times.

Nice.

I have been thinking about modifying my sheath. I've found that where I like to wear my knife (when I keep it on my belt)is about right where my belt loop is. Any thoughts on a good way to cut a small slit in the belt loop part? I was thinking of splitting it since it's so wide and making it a double side-by-side job that could fit on either side of a belt loop. Not only would it go where I want it, but I imagine that will make it stay there, as well.

I had this same problem with Levi's. I have used a couple different approaches on non-weapon oriented clothing. I have moved the belt loop on a couple of pairs of Levi's so it's not in the way of my holsters and sheaths. Just unstitched it and had my wife show me how to stich them back on. The other thing I did was to buy weapon oriented clothing like pants from 5.11 Tactical. Their tan and od pants have a belt loop that is proper for carrying a holster or sheath at exactly 3 or 9 oclock. They have quite a bit of hype around their gear which drives up the cost quite a bit. But, I waited for a great sale and bought 6 pair.
