It was a good day at the mail today. Both my ScrapYard Yard Keeper and my Bark River Bravo-1 (green micarta scales w/ red liners) arrived. I haven't had a chance to play with them much yet - but I did try my hand at sharpening the convex grind on the barkie.

Sorry for the crappy pics, I'll set up my lightbox when I get an chance.

Thanks,

I am impressed as hell with the quality of both knives. Now to go chop some trees down...

That is weird.... I have never received a Barkie that I felt I could improve the edge on enough to justify trying to re-sharpen until well used.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

The blade was 100% on arrival. This was my first attempt at convex sharpening, I just wanted to see if I could do it.

And, it seems - I can.

If you haven't tried Barkies, they are VERY good stuff! The Bravo-1 is stout! But, still cuts like crazy.

OK... then. I was wondering. Barkies are some of the sharpest factory edges I know of.

Good that you got the convex technique down. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> Good system. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Cool news.

I just picked up an Aurora (waiting for it to be delivered). The 2008's are starting to get delivered.
