When looking for SH pics I saw some ATS34 versions.. Now Dan may have run out of INFI but if Jerry still has some ATS34 stainless lying around wouldn't that make a great S4 variant for skinning and other uses that wreck carbon steel? A Shaker style thing in ATS34 would be a great all-rounder and that size wouldn't need sr77's awesome strength so much..

I would rather see it in D2 which is another steel they probably have some extra of lying around.

Thats interesting, I had forgotten about the ATS34. I haven't seen any in my digging but I will have to dig deeper, who knows what I will find.

Maybe you'll find a piece long enough to make a bowie knife! Stainless steel that holds an edge. Or is ATS34 too brittle for a big knife?

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

It's fine, it'll take rockwell 61 without catastrophic failure in sane use *allegedly*.. sr77 for big knives and ATS34 for medium or smaller ones perhaps? I've got a DF on order and sr77 suits it right to the ground.. An ATS34 Shaker or S4 though, that's a fine thing!
