When looking for SH pics I saw some ATS34 versions.. Now Dan may have run out of INFI but if Jerry still has some ATS34 stainless lying around wouldn't that make a great S4 variant for skinning and other uses that wreck carbon steel? A Shaker style thing in ATS34 would be a great all-rounder and that size wouldn't need sr77's awesome strength so much..

I would rather see it in D2 which is another steel they probably have some extra of lying around.

uh oh. look at that emoticon. he's already got somethin that we're all gonna freak for. Maybe you'll find a piece long enough to make a bowie knife! Stainless steel that holds an edge. Or is ATS34 too brittle for a big knife?

It's fine, it'll take rockwell 61 without catastrophic failure in sane use *allegedly*.. sr77 for big knives and ATS34 for medium or smaller ones perhaps? I've got a DF on order and sr77 suits it right to the ground.. An ATS34 Shaker or S4 though, that's a fine thing! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
