No offense taken by me; I'm very disappointed if that's really the way things are now though. My line of thinking is something like this:

I've seen many other posts that mention "other manufacturer's products". For example, scrappy noted that there were problems interacting with the boards from a Wii. Several other folks suggested computers by both vendor and manufacturer. I've even seen Dan make reference to Johnny Walker Blue, so by products, I assume that the reasonable interpretation is "other [knife] manufacturer's products".

I also think that the rule's reasonable intent would be that the board Dan sponsors out of pocket (at no cost to members to Search or in any other way interact on, which I appreciate), not become an advertising [SPAM] venue for his competitors. So, since the Busse Kin companies market fixed-blade, professional quality, heavy duty knives, then that's what should be restricted. If somebody wants to post about them, they should back up any claims with a comparison to the equivalent Busse, preferably a Scrap Yard.

The Rat Trap is an anomaly -- at least I don't think that they'll ever release another folder. So, I don't consider mentioning other folders by manufacturer and model to be in violation of how I think the rule should be interpreted. To be a bit melodramatic, I'm saddened if that's not the case, because I consider the freedom of communication embodied in these discussions to be part of what makes the Yard such a great place to hang out.

I like Scrap Yard knives as much as the next guy, but they simply aren't released often enough for that to be all I talk about. I come here to hear about new releases, but I also come for the other discussions. If anything, a folding knife discussion seems to have a more logical place in the Knives forum than many of the non-knife discussions. However, I think those discussions are a big part of what makes this forum such a good community. Looking back at all I've written in this post, I guess I'm in for at least a nickel.

Your view is the same as mine, Jim. I'm just not sure it is the same as the moderator's view.

I really do like the Millie. However, I think what ultimately stopped me from buying one was the blade to handle ratio: much like Striders. I guess that's how most military folders are. Lots and lots of control over the knife. It's still on my list of future folders.

Before, I usually carried my RUKUS with the FBM. However, due to the size of the darn thing, I couldn't find a sheath large enough for it. Carrying it the pocket became a hassle to get out. And since I got my sweet sheath from Rainwalker, I might as well find some way of carrying a folder on the sheath. Hence all the crazy stuff that I attached: CBK, SOCOM Elite, Pouch, RMD, and FBM. Now, finally I can carry everything in one system.





So I guess I'm really covered for any hiking, backpacking, etc, trip. I've got all the essentials.

I'd say my most used folders are my Grip and Rukus. My Grip has been thoroughly abused. I accidentally broke of the tip, made it a tanto. Cloak took a big chip out after batoning it through wood. Now, I don't know what the heck it is now. It's still wicked sharp and has a semi gut hook.



My Rukus was used a bunch for just anything that it could do. I think when I first got, it was the only thing I'd carry. There really was no need for another knife. However, times change, and I realize that carrying one "ain't gonna cut it."

I really wish one of the Busse Kin would make a really tough folder. I'm thinking along the lines of a frame lock, titanium (maybe even just house steel), .125 thick lock. The blade should be about .135-.150 inches. Length, personally I like big folders, so around 8-9 inches overall. Of course, the steel should be SR-77, SR-101, or INFI depending on whose gonna make it.

Both could make an LE that had a .22 thick frame with a .25 thick blade. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

My Neil Blackwood of a Busse folder would be a folding FBM. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> I'm getting a little too ridiculous, no? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> I'd have so many uses for it.

Sorry if I made some error. I probably should have clearly stated in my first post "your favorite folder that is commonly used along with your other Busse kin knives." I did remember the rules and wasn't here to make comparisons with other companies.

From benchmade, I've always liked the mini-rukus and mini-skirmish.

I've handled both and like how they feel, but I love my spyderco delica wave right now. Still there's this urge in me to buy more knives!!

the military is a knife i was in love with until i held one. happens all the time, now. that's a good thing, i think.

the exact opposite of that experience was the dfle. i was hoping i'd like it, then it turned out to be awesome.
