I have two Kershaws and only one Spyderco. I think the Spyderco is a bit more precision made with a little better steel, but the Keshaws with the 12c27 seem to cut well and seem rugged. I like my Benchmade Dejavoo best so far. Magnum problably has more to compare. I think Kershaws are pretty darned good for the money.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Kershaw has some pretty innovative blades, both big and small. The new SG2 JYDII. The Tyrade. The Offset. The zillion leeks. Spyderco has fewer models that appeal to me but better fit and finish IMO. The thumbhole thing gets old after awhile for me.
Net, net it's an apples and oranges thing.

Wow, that's pretty cheap. How is the quality on those Byrds compared to the regular Spydercos? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spydercoevidently they are cheaper buy using chinese labor & lesser grade materials Spyderco design and produce knives under the Byrd brand. These knives use slightly lower quality materials than the Spyderco branded knives and are manufactured in China, allowing much lower prices while retaining most of Spyderco's quality. To differentiate the brands, Byrd knives have a "comet" shaped opening hole in the blade, rather than the trademark round hole found on Spyderco models.
To date, Byrd knives have featured 8Cr13MoV exclusively as their blade steel. Early Byrd knives were marked 440C, but tests found that the steel was something entirely different from American 440C. This steel was closer to AUS-8 than American 440C, and also went by the name 8Cr13MoV.
The first Byrd models, the Cara Cara, Meadowlark, Flight, Pelican, and Crossbill, initially featured stainless steel handles. This is likely because company owner Sal Glesser believes that "'basic stainless' is ... the best way to test a 'pattern design'. Function and ergonomics are easily determined without the 'influence' of material." Newer Byrds have featured aluminum and G10 handles.

the byrds are a good buy. they're fully capable, if less refines than than seki and colorado spydies.
i've had a few kershaws and they are great knives, but had better experiences overall with spyderco. the $30 kershaw storm 2 is a large, usa made, frame locking, recurved 13C26 folder which i think holds the benchmark for value priced knives. i actually prefer it to my JYD2. leek rocks em both, gotta get the d2 model.

I have nothing but praise for the Endura. Mine is probably years old and still going strong. I cut grooves in the handle so I had better grip for some edged weapons training I have done over the years. While everyone else in this training had the lastest and greatest tactical this or that, I had the Endura. Even with the model I have having no liner like the gen 4 does, it still is tough enough to do anything I need it to do. I love this knife although now that I have a gen 4, I like it just as much. ![[Linked Image from i88.photobucket.com]](http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k185/rteagard/Knives/DSC00591.jpg)
