still better than the m16, though. maybe in a plain edge i'd have liked it. really good looking.

I own 10 or so CRKT and I like the apache and that big folding hunter i posted on the last page but most of them I do not like. there okay but not as sharp as my benchmades or spydies.

OK, so I'm now in the market for a folder. Technically three folders, since I buy everything in groups of 3 it seems......

Let's see if I can get a recommendation or three from you experts.

I currently carry my son's Kershaw 1660ST. I love the way it opens and would prefer something that opens just as easy. But the blade is soft and weak at the tip.

Because of that, I'm thinking something with a sturdy tanto blade design would probably do better for me. Something with a blade length somewhere in the 3.5" to 4" category. I'm not real big on serrations either.

So is there a quality knife out there like what I described? Something that would take the abuse of serious use? I'd like to keep it under $100 per if I could, but absolutely no more than $500 for the three of 'em.

They'll be keeping good company - Chopweilers for the big fixed blades and Dumpster Mutts for the smaller fixed blades.

Thanks!

typically, i would say three pocket knives everyone should have are the poineer, the delica, and the 110.

given what you've said, i'm gonna recommend kershaw's D2 or s30v leek and PM me for a couple others, cheap.

The Kershaw JYDII is a terrific value at $50 or so. It's a flipper which either you like or don't. I find it easy to open. Very sturdy, very good Sandvik steel. Pocket clip looks a little Star Trek but I find it functional.

I love the blade on mine. Mine was stiff and hard to open. Also, the linerlock barely engaged. I've had it for nearly a year. I sanded the back of the blade a little and now the lock engages well. The knife has finally "worn in" and opens well. It is a rugged knife with good steel and heavy duty liners. Yes, the belt clip is ugly, but the knife sure cuts well.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.
