Itx,
You taling bout the Button Autos? I believe those use a leaf-spring, there action is a lot slower and weaker. Coil is the only way to go on any auto. Longevity in spring and spring action are both increased. My MT Mini Socom is coiled fired and made in 2005 and the action is still crisp, fast, and hard-hitting.
Darkeather,
I think that's the intention of most OTF: slicing soft tissue and killing fools.
Hows the blade play on the Infidel. I've heard it's negligible, but I've played with some that have quite a good amount. I've played with 600 dollar MT OTFs and the blade play is unbearable. I'd be afraid to even cut a fruit with one of the MT OTFs.

There is a lot of handle and weight to the Auto Mini Rukus. It's built like a tank though. Now you understand why I like my full size Rukus so much. I honestly think you should try the fullsize Rukus before you go for the mini.

my infidel locks up nice and solid. I haven't put it through any rough use though. I think the only reason I don't have as much confidence in it is because I can't see the lock. The spring broke very quickly, within a week, and I haven't had any problems with the new spring.

That's good to hear.
Rough use won't just cause blade play. Just shooting the knife in and will. On the every MT that I've played with, you can just shake the knife in your hand and hear the knife clacking on the inside of handles. I absolutely hate it.
The only OTFs that I want are the Desert Knife Works Sand Shark, but those are very hard to come by.

Itx,
Hmmm, I've never heard of that before. I have heard that BMs QC is starting to go down the pipe. Apparently the workers' wages aren't keeping up with inflation. Not cool of BM.

I don't care if its a little loose inside the handle as long as it is solid when deployed. Just like I don't mind my glock barrels rattling when the slides are locked back. They are all solid when locked.

No I meant you could hear the knife rattle like crazy when the blade was open... and closed.

Yea... I'm not gonna say any more about MTs OTFs. Though actually, many Double Action OTFs obtain this characteristic after being fired so many times. So I can't really blame MT. I've handled Infidels with the same side-side, up-and-down blade play (though not to the extent of the MTs). While I was at a knife cutlery store, they had the Full Size Troodon. Massive @$$ freakin' of a knife. Almost, and maybe, the size of my Rukus. This thing was massive. I was like, "This thing must be built like a tank!" First thing I did was check blade play. As usual with MT D/A OTFs, blade play all across the board. You could definitely feel it and see it. The charge handle models are much simpler (as darn complex as they are) and much less prone to blade-play, a lot less wiggle room due the the firing system. I honestly really like the HALO series and will drop a few hundred to get one in black tanto PE or SE. Though my SOCOMs will suffice for the moment. Look at this HALO I do love their SOCOM Elites (at least when the QC was still decent) and will post more pics. (just to make EMF mad with envy) ![[Linked Image from i235.photobucket.com]](http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee292/The_Aaij_1/DSC_0082.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i235.photobucket.com]](http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee292/The_Aaij_1/DSC_0081-1.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i235.photobucket.com]](http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee292/The_Aaij_1/DSC_0080-2.jpg)

I modified my Victorinox OHT today. I like the folder, but prefer a fine edge to a serrated one. To 3WG! ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/Knife/OHT018.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/Knife/OHT001.jpg) After 80 grit sanding. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/Knife/OHT002.jpg) Done. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/Knife/OHT010.jpg) Cuts good. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/Knife/OHT017.jpg)
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Mantis knives makes one hell of a heavy duty folder. Part pry bar and knife. It's made of the S30V steel. It is one heavy knife. If you want a light girley knife this is not for you. The knife is the MT-4 folder. I will try to include the link to the knife below so you can see it. The price is a little salty, but then again so is any knife worth having. The lock is as tight as can be and sometime takes both hands with pressure to release the liner lock. I hope to field test the knife but want to carry it on duty with me as I am a police officer. It should take anything I can dish out. www.mantisknives.com/mt4.htmlNot all of there knives are this heavy and expensive. They make a wide variety of knives and knives for different jobs and for different budgets. About time a company did this. My hats off to the Mantis knife company.
