The toughest thing I have discovered about INFI is trying to sharpen it!

Reminds me of sharpening a butter knife on a brick.

I don't like INFI because of that. S-7 is twice as easy to sharpen and SR-101 as easy as 440-C

If ANYONE in the Busse Family dares to make a folder, please do NOT use INFI!!!

Peace

INFI is a breeze to sharpen compared to 154CM and even Sr101. At least that is my experience. Maybe you're trying too hard, David.

Feel free to send me a piece of Jerry's INFI and I will do a comparison sharpening test. Boy I just hope I don't loose that INFI goodness before I can get it back to you Vic.

I am mystified. Pop knows knives and steels. But my expience with INFI has been opposite of his. I just touch it up with a ceramic rod or a strop. Here's what Jerry Busse says about his steel:

Sharpening
INFI's high level of chip resistance also makes it the easiest steel to resharpen by hand that we have ever encountered. I personally fall into the category of "hand sharpening challenged". I've heard tales of those who can sharpen ball peen hammers to a razor's edge on an Arkansas stone in less than 5 seconds flat. My experiences have always been to the contrary. The spine of the knife is usually sharper than the edge when I'm finished applying my magic stone sharpening technique. One of the great features of INFI is that simply stropping away from the edge (the way a barber strops a straight edged razor) on a ceramic stick is basically all that is required to resharpen INFI. Since you're not chipping steel off the edge there is no need to grind any steel away. This feature of INFI will, likewise, allow you to keep the same overall profile of the knife for a much greater period of time.

But I agree with David on one thing, there's no need for a Busse INFI folder. My Rat Trap in S30V is just fine!

Wait a minute, Jerry recommends stropping the edge, basically backwards of the way blades are usually sharpened! Now I can understand doing this on a piece of leather or a powered sharpener, but on Ceramic!

It works. It works in the other direction, too.

You should just bite the bullet, Randy and buy one of those pretty little knives (I forgot the name) Busse is selling now. If it isn't sharp and you can't get it sharp, Busse will sharpen it for you. Man, INFI is easy to sharpen to me.

We now return you to your regular folder thread. My HEST folder STILL isn't here!

I was just scoping out my Umnumzaan today and it has a pretty hefty frame lock on it too. It really locks up tight! I like that.
