You should go get yourself and nice BM Axis lock. If you can find an AFCK with axis or get a one of the 940s. The 710s are really popular. I don't really like the 710s, too much. Its got an odd handle shape. I've handled it before but it's still a little weird.

I'd get one in M2 plain edge...If I could find one. Sadly those are rare and people horde them.

I dislike Liner Locks - they always seem to wear our prematurely and have a questionable lockup. I've had CRKT and Benchmade folders that have had liner locks completely wear out... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> I do want to get something w/ an Axis lock, though.

The axis lock is a little awkward, I admit. I just like how fast I can whip my knife out and flip it back in.

You might one to see if you can get one of Microtech's folder's with the "rocker lock". It's similar to a frame lock, but I believe its much stronger and less likely to fail.

I'm pretty sure you've seen one. But, to the folks who don't know what it is, the "rocker lock" is a titanium bar runs for about 1.5 - 2 inches in the blade. The lock is engaged by a coil spring. By doing this, it allows the bar to be fully engaged behind the tang. There's really no way the lock can disengage with the bar in such a position. Unless the titanium bar is bent or the lock hinge gets pushed out of the aluminum frame. Highly unlikely in, most situations, that either of those two possibilities are going to happen.

Kershaw Scallion. This was my very first folder when I started to get into knives. The price was right and I thought the assisted opening was neat. It's a fun knife, but the handles have no grip.




My second folder, a Spyderco Delica 4 Waved. It looks smaller then the kershaw, but its actually bigger. The handle has a lot better grip and I like the snap/click the lockback makes when it opens. Great knife, I carry it with me all the time.

OH BTW, my favorite axis is definitely the BM Rukus. It's a monster of a folder.

I really wish they made the Rukus in M2 or some other steel. It's rather large for an S30V blade.
