I've chimed in before, but Since the Insingo (I would LOVE one of those) was mentioned...

I ALWAYS (well if I have on real pants, not just lounging around the house) carry two knives. My small Sebenza Classic MM with black micarta inlays and My emerson combat Karambit (that hopefully will never leave my pocket).

But as of late I have additionally been carrying my Umnumzaan. Now THAT is a sturdy blade, plus the blade with the raised "Rhino horn tip" looks SWEET!

I hear you on the Karambit...it would be a grim event to pluck her from the pocket, the wave catching and deploying the blade while your in a full-power upward swing to an assailants upper torso...followed quickly thereafter by targeted strikes to tendons and arteries....oops, overshare.

The Umnumzann is CRKs answer to critics of the Sebenza not being robust enough. It's nice, I've almost purchased one--no fewer than three times, but always decide against it. Nothing really negative about it, just not right for me. It's a personal choice.

I have been contemplating a XM18 I just am having a hard time justifying that much money. I can order it direct but that is still a huge chunk of change for a knife. I think what is holding me back is the fear that I might lose a folder. It has been years since I have lost one, but I can see it getting left in a recliner at work and never to be seen again.

They justify their MSRP all day long. Secondary pricing can get nuts...that's a sign of how desireable these knives are.

To be honest, I debate letting you guys know how awesome these knives are because the supply is so limited that I'm hurting my chances of getting another.

But for the good of the group, I give high praise to knives so robust and reliable that they are my EDCs, without question or hesitation.

Losing knives sucks, losing most anything you really like...sucks. I can remember every knife I've ever lost or had stolen from me. Miss them all. It would be a true bummer to lose an XM, I've misplaced mine once.

But, pocket clips are grippy without causing excessive damage to clothing, and the knives have nice weight. Their not heavy, but with a 3.5 or the 24, you know they are there.

N2k, on the upswing lower left (his) to upper right, followed by a 180 degree rotation of the wrist and a slash from the right ear (his) to the left and then... well we'll just see.

You could also drop down to your knees and do an upward slash across the thigh or thighs and then crosswise of the abdomen. That wave feature is NICE, now that I've played with it a bit.

Did I say to much?

I hesitate to elaborate on techniques because many begin to question or just plain assume or misassume things.

You, Sir, cannot say too much. You're held in very high reguard and have nothing to prove to anyone. I just know that this is the Internet and people will think whatever they want about words or the person typing them.

BTW...What you described is one half of a Karambit technique I'm familiar with. But complicate things too much and they are more complicated to execute under stress.

Now, I know I've said too much...

I started with common knives. Kept moving up. Continued to move up, carried on...discovered the XM. Done for now, it does everything I need it to do.

Yup, I've found mine as well. Those three do everything I would ever want a folder to accomplish.

To again list MY carry folders

1. Small Sebenza classic MM with black micarta inlays.
2. Umnumzaan. I just love this knife as a larger folder and the false edge on it is awesome looking.
3. The one that never leaves my pocket UNLESS it there is a REAL need. But there have been times that I have had my hand on it for a while, the Emerson Combat Karambit.

I have never taken actual lessons, but I have read a lot and have a couple books. I mainly go over scenarios in my mind and single person "shadow boxing".

I know this is not ideal by any means, but it is all that is available in this part of the country. Hopefully I have "rehearsed" enough to perform if needed.

There are many dogs here that could tear me up in a couple seconds or less. BUT a determined man is capable of much if a sufficient need arises.
