Please elaborate on how that knife is anywhere near the equal? Not trying to be negative or start any trouble, just asking for clarity. Thanks. ![[Linked Image from i1243.photobucket.com]](http://i1243.photobucket.com/albums/gg552/_Need2Know_/photo-1321.jpg)

Didn't say equal, I said feels similar in hand and if I was going to compare it to anything, I'd say its more akin to a true Hinderer than a ZT 0560 ( feel in hand). Never really used a Hinderer, held several at Blade and flipped a few. MSRP is actually pretty close on the two as well ( actual MSRP on the Southard is 399 I think, retail more like 240, while the XM is what, 350 to 400 MSRP, but with a secondary market value ( where most people get them) of 650 to 750 ( haven't been paying that close attention.

Cool, I said "equal" because compares to = comparable = akin = equal. All synonyms.
MSPR may be similar, but new Southards can be had for $250, no XM sells below MRSP ($385 3", 3.5", $550 24) no matter your credentials.
Both have Ti and G10, both have flippers and are frame locks . But I don't see them as close enough to one another to compare head-to-head. I do see why you suggested the Spydie is less ZT though.

I hear you, I meant compare as in " if I was going to do a side by side comparison write up, I would choose to do it more with a Hinderer than a para 2 or ZT" I'm really just going by feel, both the Southard and the Hinderers that I handled, feel extremely refined, well designed and well put together, yet still bomb proof, kind of like a luxury car you could take off roading. At least that was my feeling

How's the scale coming Jared?
I just sprung for a 5.11 Cub folder. Been curious about karambits for a long while and figured I would check one out. Nasty, nasty self defense weapon from the looks of it. Since gun buying is kaput for the time being... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" />
add: you guys see Lion Steel is about ready for the SR Mini? I'm looking forward to hearing the pricing.

Rich, you're gonna like the 511 Cub. Almost bought one of those as well. If you DON'T like it I am sure it can find a new home. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
Actually they are more versatile than you would think. NOTHING better for cutting string or opening boxes. They also work well if you are picking your own sweet corn off the stalk or cutting vines like maters, pukins, grapes... Well you get the idea.

One of the reasons I'm getting it is I know what one of your back up folders is and know you like it!

Karambits make a great backup tool. My Super K, rides along as a third knife very often.

You will find that is a lot more versatile than you think it will be. I don't use mine for anything, I have my little Sebbie and Umnumzaan for that. It is just a last ditch do or die safety device. Well I have opened up a few pieces of cardboard and cut some string and some Pumpkin vines.

Those lion steels have been tempting me for some time now if the mini is affordable I'll probably jump on it.

You're my shooting coach! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Early on in my knife buying I checked out a hawkbill and struggled with it as an edc, so I'm not sure what I'll think of the karambit..besides it looking like a holy terror of a self-defense blade. But, push comes to shove, about any knife is highly dangerous. It will just be me and some solo/mellow martial arts practice. I forgot you had a umnumzaan...what a nice looking knife! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
