"we are unable to fulfill your order at this time."

This is the email I got from Patti today about the Dog Father. I guess I didn't make it.

Anyone else not make it even though you got a PO and billed?

Wow. The meltdown at the store must have really been something.

I hope that's the last we ever see of that!

i have a bad feeling with the continuing of small releases combined with the growing popularity of the yard, that it's going to continue.

I feel almost lucky. At least I never thought I scored. Maybe Dan will make some more of them. Personally, I much prefer the DFLE.

Yes, Jason I got the same one. I'm not worried about it. There will be other knives I'm interested in, come along, as time goes by. I'll just have to be faster next time . If you have to have a Dogfather there is always the after market. I already have one Dogfather I got that way.

Dan and Patti did the best they could with what few knives they had to work with. The email Patti sent to us also said they sold out in a matter of minutes.

Like I mentioned in a post just before this release. It may be time to limit small releases to a one knife per order. Hopefully one of those people who ordered a sack full was another dog just covering for fellow dogs and will PM you about it.

Or at least some limit, especially on small releases. I paid LE prices for my CG on ebay last year because I missed the regular offering.

+1 Vic ! At least with the MOD 7, it was known that there was only 50 available and a limit of 1 knife per customer. That distribution should have yielded 50 happy customers, with the rest hopefully understanding the limit.

It's my wife's fault I wasn't fast enough . She was standing over my shoulder asking questions at the time . Of course I had to stop and answer them...slowed me down a lot . Also caused me to make mistakes...had to reenter the data three times before it took .

By the time everything went through correctly the knives were gone .

Sure hope my wife doesn't read this

I received the same email. I made it through to the confirmation screen, but when the pre-authorization on my credit card dropped off after a few days, I figured I had missed it. Oh well, this was my first release, and it was still a heck of a rush.

I know the gang over at BF got wind of the release shortly before it opened, so I'm sure that was a factor too. I'll just have to be quicker next time.

Hopefully Dan will have something for us soon. Plus, the DogFather should be back again sometime in the future.

I didn't get mine either. But I did score a SS4 for $185 shipped so that kinda makes it all better. Just got it in the mail saturday. It feels better in my hand than any knife I've ever held, fixed or folder. There will be more knives... I definitely would like a 2 blade limit on any release, at least for the first 24 hours. Then maybe if they still weren't sold out you could add more to your order.

Doesn't that mudder handle feel great? Why they discontinued it is a mystery to me. Congrats on getting a Scrap Yard classic. A two knife order limit would work for me.

It means you still have a shot. My invoice # was 2864. If your's is lower you still have a 50/50 shot. If it is highter you probably didn't make it.

I got rejection emails for #2870 (mine) ande #2869 which might be somebody elses, or might have resulted from the 3 or 4 times i put all the info in before it "took it". So 64 got one and 69 didn't...

i think there is something going on underneath the woodwork and i am afraid its not turning out in fairness to all us. people are buying large amounts and then ripping people off on the secondary market. but to that guy, im not stupid enough to pay more than what its worth so whatever... im just tired of dealing with a company that has nothing to offer is newcomers! 64 did not get one. I also got a sold out notice. I jsut put my invoice # in so the dogs that haven't gotten a email could get an idea of where they stand. It's not a good idea to put your invoice # here.

Reconseed, I disagree with your assessment that "something is going on" here. We were told that this was a "small run". With the YKCG selling out in 53 minutes it made since that some of us (myself included) that wanted this knife wouldn't get one.

As far as the yard having nothing to offer.....I joined the yard 10/05/2007. At that time the Yardhook was available. since then we have seen the Mod7, the DFLE, the DMLE, the YKCG and this small amount of DFCG. That averages one knife every thirty days. Looks like there has been a lot offered to me.

I agree with you on the after market. I set price points to buy a knife on the after market (original cost + shipping original buyer + shipping to me). That's why I've only purchased one. Most of them are selling above my price point.

Just wait. I'm sure you'll have a "sack full" of scrap yard knives by the end of the year.

I got the same email, I used two different cpu's, one a chess network server, I know for a fact I was one of the very very first to order, but yet I received I didn't make the cut, I was looking forward to being a long term customer, As I had already received the S6, This letter has changed me bigtime, I'm not sure if I want to be that long term customer anymore as I already just sold my friend the S6 for $50 and said the hell with it.

#2863.... no dice.

I'd be in favor of limited quantity per order. Guaranteed a someones gonna have a bunch of these up on the exchange for $210 each now. Was really looking forward to having a dog father too...

It is beginning to look like these small releases are going to leave quite a few unhappy dogs if some limits aren't set on quantity by a single purchaser. Of course it is possible that there just weren't very many of them. I don't know for a fact that there were some large purchases. I'm sure Dan and Patti will work out something better for future releases.

Keep in mind that we were told that it was a very small number of blades from the get-go on this one. It was not a regular release and should not be looked at as one or used to judge how a regular release goes. The store software puking just made things worse.

Second, KEEP THE LANGUAGE CLEAN.

Sure I'm disappointed, but I knew it was a long shot going in. I think it's awesome they have such an amazing product that creates such a frenzy. (It'll just be that much sweeter when I score one on some future release)

i understand the frustration with quick sell outs, but as other people have mentioned this was a overrun much like the MOD that sold out very quickly. Here's hoping there is another release soon and it's big big big.

I was thinking the same thing but I got a email last week and she said I would have my order by the first of this week. I ordered 2, one for me and one for dad but if he doesn't want it I will but it up to the guys that didn't get a chance.

My order was only 12 after Ted's and he was the first to get one. Our times were less than a second apart, goes to show how fast the dogs move. I hope I scored though.

No good or bad email here, and I'm sitting below 2840 for the order number - so maybe there is some hope for this mutt. But I did get my SS4 today

I believe that they went with the store instead of a Ganzaaa so folks would know immediately if they scored rather than having to wait. The store failed to handle the load & then ended up having to go through things manually after all that.

A ganzza style system would work better on their part, save them from having to deal with refunds.

I dont see anything wrong with limited quantities, it's not like it would affect their sales, they'd still sell out on every run, it might just take 10 minutes instead of 2.

Even if you could only add a couple to your cart at a time, check out, then go back for more. Or just limit it for the first few minutes.

I think almost everyone here was very quick, sitting at their computers for half an hour refreshing, and even us losers were probably within a minute or even a few seconds of the winners.

I've got nothing against first come first serve, no one should get preferential treatment, but if some individuals are causing a lot of disappointed customers just so they can line their pockets why not make an adjustment for the sake of their fans?

I remember seeing a piece on the news when the iphone came out. This woman paid some kid $500 for his place in the front of the line so she could buy ALL the iphones and hawk them on ebay. [censored] was it satisfying to see her reaction when they told her 1 per customer and everyone laughed at her, especially the kid who still got one in spite being at the back of the line.

Got my shipping notice too! I wasn't the fastest on the draw but I was under 2850. The store problems had me sweating a bit, but it looks like I scored. Can't wait to get my paws on it!

Congratulations to those who scored - the DogFather is an AWESOME blade!! To the other folks who didn't score - have Faith, there should be more available in the future!
