No, aus-8 is a decent steel.
Saying it is laughable to use or compare a aus-8 blade is alittle snobby I think.
Soldiers put their lives on the line with aus-8 blades every day.

i just always thought AUS steels were far below the level of the steels the Busse family chose to use. Perhaps I am mistaken. and the comment about US soldiers putting their lives on the line with AUS steels... keep in mind there brother, those of us in the military put our lives on the line everyday with products from the LOWEST BIDDER....

Haha, geuss your right.
I really depends though, it is the family heat treat that make Busse blades so great.
We really dont know what aus-8 would be like if it had the heat treat that sr-77 and infi have. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I trust the Busse's when it comes to the knives I choose to carry. To hell with the sorry TA-50 the US Army issues us. Its cheap junk. And to beat it all, THEY DO NOT ISSUE ANY SOLDIER A KNIFE.

I'm now a member of the Grunt group... As i was ordering my sharpmaker the other day from newgraham.com, i remembered pitman's review of the Grunt so i went ahead and added one to my order. Hopefully once it comes in and i put a better edge on my DMDC, i can do a side-by-side comparison.
