I even bought some old french parachutes and harnesses w/ the shroud lines cut which I replaced w/ paracord. I have two functional parachutes(although I dont trust them) total project cost was only $60

nick, what are monkey fists???
and... there was some talk about packs before and I kinda want one, but their expensive and honestly, I'm not the knida person to stay in the same place for a while, and I'm also forgettful... plus I can't stand carrying stuff!!! (really,I hate carrying ANYTHING) so if I had a pack I would end up taking it off and putting it somewhere to go chop and whatnot or gather firewood or something and take my pack off and lose it.
so I wanted to look at some smaller, that will fit the little gear I hope to be able to get.
instead of posting a whole big thread asking a million questions I just typed in a brand I recognized and started looking. I remembered the name maxpedition on pits pack and when looking at all the different ones I found one I really think I would like. the proteus versipack. I think it's actually the same one pit has. anyways... I really like the looks of it and I think it wil carry enough stuff, but not too much stuff that I will dread having it on me.
I was just wondering who else had it and what do they think of it.
and I just wanted to share, since other than knives I have NO survival kit stuff.

(speaking of which, I need stuff to fill it with first!! but I can't spend my money untill I get at least another scrapper!)

Good stuff Mac.
EMF the knot was originally developeded by sailors so they could throw the line a good distance, If you were carring one around in your pocket you'd probibly get in trouble with the police since they can be considered a weapon. Especially in your state.

I meant just for getting ropes over trees and stuff.but they would make a great impact weapon... then again, so do fists.

Lol. Monkey's fist. Good knot to know...
I'm meaning to actually make myself a legit PSK or 'go' bag. Something in a small pouch or case. Just need to find the time to do it.
I'm lazy as hell and am highly motivated to only use my FBM and not do anything else.

Very good point!! I always have a big one in my car and house. I change them with the seasons as well. I don't have a small one in my pocket at all times. Probably should since it is easy to be separated from your car, house or base camp. I have to rethink a small pocket kit - especially one that is airline friendly.
