Hey guys, new to the forum and decided to drop a line. I recently became a fan of the ScrapYard Knives when I manged to pick one up on the secondary market, the SS4. I love this knife and am hoping to get more of this wonderful line of knives. I'm an avid hunter/fisherman, and I get tired of having to sharpen and resharpen knives in between trips to the outdoors. I can tell just from playing around with the SS4 that I won't have too many of those problems anymore.

Not to discourage you, tyger, but your first scrapper has the best steel of any scrapper. Yours has the more expensive INFI, a steel exclusive to Busse Combat Knives. Welome to the yard.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Tyger, Welcome!!!

Yes that SS-4 is a great knife with the power of INFI steel. Great stuff!

What every other knife made by Scrap Yard Knife Company is made from S-7 tool steel.Used in industry for Jack Hammer bits due to it's ability to take a shock and not fail. It undergoes a Busse special heat treatment and magically transforms into SR-77!!

As you have a chance to pick up ANY other knife made by Scrap Yard using it's patented SR-77 steel I am quite sure you will find it is WAY over the top in strength, durability and edge retention. It holds a keen edge and resharpens with bit a moment of work. Quite amazing steel that SR-77.
You should search the secondary market for a piece and see what it's all about!

The Yard just moved form Texas to Ohio this week, so keep your eyes and ears peeled here to keep up on news of a new release.

And again Tyger, welcome to The Yard and may only great things happen to you and your loved ones.

Peace.

Some people just never learn.

Howdy, and welcome to the Yard.

Not an SS4 owner myself, but I've read nothing but good things about them here.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I consider myself very lucky to have gotten the SS4. A fellow knife collector was almost crazy asking me about it. He's apparently been trying to get one for about a year.

I hit the secondary market again today, and I might have lucked out. I might have the chance to pick up the Dogfather and Dumpster Mutt, both LEs. More expensive than what I would pay first hand, of course, but the guy is willing to include sheaths as well as pay the insurance and shipping.

Before becoming aware of the Busse family knives, I was an avid collector of Muela and Spyderco knives. After getting the SS4, and hopefully the DFLE and DMLE, I'm pretty sure my collecting is going to divert away from those two companies and just stick to the Busse designs. I've been playing around testing the SS4, and gotta admit I can't find a single flaw in it design. I'm just amazed at how well it's put together. I cannot wait to get other Scrapyards and try them out as well.

Welcome to the yard tyger. I think you made a great choice in the SS4 for your first Scrap Yard knife. I know you'll get years of service out of it.
