I like the core, supertool and supertool 200. the supertool 200 and surge I picked up on sale for 40 bucks which is just as good a price as any swiss tool. I do own a syderench. sorry I don't use it and it cost 130! but they were very rare and expensive at the time. they are now much cheaper.

I was able to compare the Swisstool ($63) to the Wave ($50) today.
The Vic was plenty robust but a little on the large size.

I then compared the Vic Spirit (also $50) to the Wave and settled on the Spirit.

This model has scissors and the main cutting blade is a serrated sheepsfoot but that's OK; between my Delica 4 and Dumpster Mutt I "should" be able to get by!

The Wave was solid but the Vic felt even more solid in the hand and every single implement definitely "clicked" into the locked position.

Also, the Spirit's chisel blade looks to be about perfect for use with a magnesium block/firesteel.

Thanks again for all the input!

Congrats leighman, we'll want pictures when you get it! You did it right, you felt them in your hand! best way to choose.

One great thing about the Spirit is it's tools are solid, no play in them when locked open at all! Some MTs have alittle play.

The prices vary all the time, I got my SwissTool RS for 46 usd, my BO Spirit for 36; you just gotta catch a deal!

that is a great idea to use the chisel as a fire starter.
