I like the Busse basic handle a lot. I guess different tastes, but they are nice blades.

as an FYI the handle on the larger blades liek an S6 is thicker.

This is my first scrap yard knife and I really like it. I've have other knives, such as cold steel, spyderco, benchmade, etc. but the dmdc really feels good in my hand. I to ordered a sheath which did not come with the knife, but I figured with all of the relocating they had to do that it would show up later. I thought about using those ceramic rods that come in a holder shaped like a V to bring the edge up. What do you guys think?

The finish on the knife I took out of the wrapper was excellent, bummer about the blotchy ones. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

As for the handle, I wish it was just a touch beefier too. For me the five inch handle on the DFLE is perfect, but the shorter ones of the YK and DM series just don't quite fill my hand. They're comfy, but they just seem a bit skinny.

From what I can tell from the specs for the S6 it has the thicker five inch handles, and if so, then I can certainly see what all the fuss is about regarding them.

Thanks for the info. I'm still a novice at the sharpening side of owning a knife. I like the handle on the dmdc. I have a cold steel with a kraton handle that is about 15 years old and it doesn't feel as solid as the dmdc. Also, the handle seems to be crumbling a little. But thanks again for the info. I appreciate all of the info that I gather from all of you. And like others, I really do enjoy browsing and corresponding in this forum.

I am in the Tuesday group so my DMDC is a ways out I would guess. However, my Urban Mutt from Blade 2007 came shaving sharp and then some. I too like the SR handle better than the Basic-3 handle. It is slightly larger. I like the RES-c handle on my SC6 LE alot better.

the finish one one side is perfect, on the other side it has a dictinct line were it is darker above the line and lighter below it. oh well. still looks good and at that price it will be a user. it looks to be used mor than my dmcg. I like the flat grind more.

I do not understand why some have said that DC knives are "rust magnets". What would be the difference between this and satin where rust is concerned? Is it because the DC has more microscopic bumps and valleys, therefore more areas for rust to make it's presence?
