i love all dumpster mutts especially the combat grade thickness.

mine was very dull compared to any other SY blade i have ever gotten from the factory but its not a big deal at all.

i like these handles much, much more.it was the best part about this DM imo.

my DC finish came out good and i like the look of it in general.

chalk another one up for dan.

Very interesting, Bruce.

I look forward to seeing how it turns out. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I received mine on Saturday and it looks great.

I don't have any problem with the DMDC matte finish at all. But they are not rough like the CG models. You could just buff it with ScotchBrite wheels and get a DMSB finish.

Vic, that SB finish looks great, well done! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

It's too dang bright! I'd have to wear sunglasses when I was out and about with that DMSB. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Vic,

I think you did a great job on finishing the blade. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
And to the others, refinishing a blade with scotchbrite pads is very easy.
You can do it by hand - just keep rubbing in a linear direction and don't cut yourself.

Or you can by the wheels that attach to a drill or similar. Again, just keep the abrasive marks in a fairly linear direction. And make sure your knife is secure and doesn't get flung in a bad way.

--------------------

The edge treatment done by Vic is another story. You need a belt sander, the right belts and some practice. But, it is a GREAT system once you get the right equipment and the technique down. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

*** And you need to know how to NOT over-heat the blade.

--------------------

For those of you who felt the DMCG or other Res-C handles are too small or don't fit your hand just right, the Res-C can be modified.

See: Modifying & Reshaping Res-C

I felt the Busse Basic grips were too small as well, but after some easy tinkering and modifying, they feel fine. - And look fine.

I think the larger Res-C handles would be silly on the smaller knives. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbdn.gif" alt="" />

There was some discussion of how to prevent blade rust in the DMDC Here thread; I posted this note there:

I don't know how many of you are familiar with John Greco's knives. They're high carbon steel and were coated (with "Crib Safe" Lacquer) to prevent rust; I've read postings where people reported bad rusting issues when they sanded it off, much more so than I've heard of with uncoated SR77. I haven't tried it myself, but I dug up a couple old Archive postings from BladeForums:

Greco blade coating

crib safe were can I find it

While reading your post I checked out "Modifying and Reshaping Res-C"...very interesting.

I've always wondered how the Res-C handles are attached to the tang. I'm sure someone here has peeled one off to find out. I'm too chicken to try it.
