I use mine not abuse 'em but they do get to go outside and play .

Mine Bussekin knives are all locked away in their ivory tower (I even re-wrap some in the paper they came in before putting them away). The only one I've carried was an Olive Swamp Warden -- its toughest use was slicing some mylar packaging.

i only have 1 scrap yard piece at this time so i am hesitant to use it, plus it was a gift. i treasure it so i guess its kind my collectors piece. but i want to get more SY knives so i can use them

I say alot of busse's are more collecting for some people, scrapyards are normaly more used I thought.
I def. use mine (pretty hard I would say) all the time, and I know alot of others have too.

Unless you set out to intentionally destroy the knife, is it even possible to 'abuse' a Busse-kin knife without just neglecting it to rust?

I've got several different Busse-kin blades, and I use them all regularly without giving any thought to damage. At the end of the day, I simply make sure they are dry and resharpened if needed.

For someone that collects blades just for safe-storage and fondling, it seems to me there are FAR more appealing knives (better detailed, more appealing finish materials, etc).

I have used both my Yard Hook and DFLE. Not nearly as hard as I intend to yet. Camping and hiking have been put on hold for a while until I finish the kitchen remodel. DFLE can score drywall nicely!
