I'll always be a Dog at heart too.

maybe a swamp rat here or their too.

The price on the SAR was not bad, but for some reason that knife just doesn't look like a Busse to me. I'm sure it's a fine knife.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Thanks EMF - I'm glad I have knives from all 3 Bussekins! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Vic - it may not LOOK like a Busse, but it sure feels like one! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I've fondled my blade extensively and co-mingled it with all my other fixed blades... No symptoms yet but I've only had it about 27 hours. Hope you guys feel better soon. I have a pretty strong immune system so maybe it won't get me. I'll be sure to get plenty of rest. It seems like multiple people have gotten antibiotics. Does this mean we have a few different things going around or its just not really flu? I'm sure some alcohol would kill any bacteria without hurting the blades, but I don't think I have any intiviral agents onhand.

I agree that it is strong enough but I handled one of these and I have to agree with Jerry...not great. But I have heard that a lot of folks like it. I did ask Jerry how long he was on the Blue when he designed it but he did not remember

I've been looking at Nessmuk style knives lately, but haven't been able to love the exaggerated sine-wave spines that many of them have. What's the purpose of it? Some Nessmuk designs have a straighter spine, and the SAR fits that pattern. It reminds me of a shortened old old-style butcher knife. It's definitely not tactical, but not everything has to be.

Dan, I'd be interested in exactly what you (and Jerry, if you'd care to relay his feelings) didn't like about the SAR. Personally, I liked it a lot. Mind you, I couldn't agree more that it's atypical for Busse and I'm not looking for a whole line of them, but as a change of pace update to a classic 19th century design, I like it.

It might not be great for in-hand thrusts or stabs, but that square butt just begs you to pound the tip into something.

I have to agree Vic. It's a bit of an oddity. I'd like to have one to throw...looks like a good thrower <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
