To be fair everything costs more when you have to ship it that far north.
It is 12$ for a gallon of milk in the far north part of Saskatchewan. Gas is still at least a buck$ a litre everywhere in Canada and in Europe often 3 times that. No wonder they have such crappy little cars. Really gas should cost about 2$ a litre or 7$ a gallon to accurately reflect the costs of all the enviromental damage and the subsidization. We ship gas to the US but pay more for it than the people we sell it to.

I hate public transit with a vengeance and love 500HP muscle cars but really I could get by with my bike to drive fast and a 750cc UTV for around town. There is a outfit in my town that sells 14 years or older(import law) jap import cars and trucks and they have these cool little 1.6 litre diesel 4x4's that can haul as big a stuff as my 5.0 litre GMC half ton although not as much weight.

Our cars and trucks in north america are very inefficient. As it is we can't even get the most efficient types of cars due to protectionist laws. I would not want a tiny little UTV as my only car but it would make a fantastic second vehicle. I would myuch rather send my teenager out in a UTV with a rollcage and a 70KM per hour top speed than some old beater Chev. I would keep the GMC for hauling and bad weather.

And actually, one more note to drive a VERY serious point home.

The last member here who chose to ignore the SINGLE warning they received about their attitude relating to "American only, everyone else is unimportant" wasn't banned or given a time out. His account was nuked right off of the server.

Chris - I remember paying .23cents per gallon a few ? years ago! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

I remember the local Hudson dealer gas wars and gas for a few weeks was .10cents a gallon. The normal price was around two bits.

It may be awhile before we see those prices again...LOL

The Lupo didn't sell well in the UK because VW's Spanish arm 'Seat' made an identical car called the Arosa which was cheaper, better made and had more equipment (it may have been faster too..). Lupo sales picked up slightly when VW made Seat pull the Arosa out of their line up. Personally I think the Seat's are great cars..

I need a motorcycle or something. It's getting to the point of being hard to afford to drive to work to make money to buy more gas... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sad.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" />

Where did I put that old bike... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

Actually gas prices in places besides the US does matter to Americans because it gives you an idea of just how much your taxes are subsidizing your gas.
You are paying the same amount for gas as we are in Canada possibly even more only a big chunk of it comes out of your taxes. The main reason the US government does this is to help the economy. If all of a sudden all the truckers especially had to pay the actual unsubsidised price the economy would take a huge hit.

This is one of those facts about the US that people in other countries all know but most Americans don't. It is also one of the reasons europeans in particular think Americans are crazy. The idea that you will pay taxes so some people can drive hummers and Vipers but not for Medicare seems crazy ,at least to anyone who has not driven a Viper <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" />
