The Commander in chief of the Canadian forces who was probably the best one since WW2 had to resign for undisclosed reasons but mostly because he was to competent and honest and made the rest of the government ministers he worked with look bad.
Just a couple months ago he was asked how long the war in Afghanistan would last and he told them probably to 2011. This was right after the PrimeMinister said 2 years tops. It is really sad to see him go.

I'm finally back in the US now!!! Thanks guys, you guys a really awesome and I really appreciate the welcome and encouragement in this post, it really makes me proud to be a soldier!!!

That flight from Kuwait was 16 hours and it really sucked, but it was worth it. We got to Fort Riley yesterday and have been really busy turning in our equipment. It sure does feel good to be back in the USA too!!

You don't really appreciate it here until you go to a place like Iraq for over a year, but it sure is great to be back here. I didn't eat a steak or drink a beer yet, but I will do that tonight. I will probably get drunk off 1 beer too...lol. I'm getting ready to go on leave here this weekend, but I will check the site periodically.

I thought I was going to miss out on a new Scrapyard Knive while I was gone, but I'm glad I didn't. I see Swamprat has the RMD at the store so I jumped on that and I pre-ordered that "Hairy Carry" Knife.

Welcome back to North America. One thing about seeing places like that is it shows us how good we really have it. There was a big explosion is a little town about 25 miles from me and it never even occurred to anyone that it could be terrorism. It was a bobcat(mini front end loader) hitting a gas main. I think we do tend to focus to much on our problems rather than what is great.I agree with HornDog that it is a good place to live or in my case live north of. As soon as the pardon comes through or I finish sanding off those fingerprints I will come for a visit.
Maybe I will even stay illegally and make your kids learn to speak Canadian in the schools <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
