great pics rover!
cool blade!
(you have some funny feet) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

5.7x28mm...
it's a low recoil, high velocity round developed for light armor peircing...
and it doesn't really have great stopping power. (that is debated though)

there was alot of talk about it's armor peircing abilities but no data or facts were provided to back it up.
<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
I just learned about this round a few days ago from noss so... I still don't know much about it but that's just from my understanding and users might have a different point of view, but hopefully you found that helpfull.

full loaded with 20 rounds I think it weighs like 1.6 pounds!
<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

It tears flesh up!
My uncle used his Five seveN to kill a pack of coyoties and there were huge exit wounds.
I mean huge, bordering on .45 range but it has a 20rd mag.

i think out 5.7 is about $20-24 per 50ct

where 22mag is $7-12 per 50ct

I said it makes more sense.
The 5.7 is a penetrator, a mini rifle round that I have found to be very accurate and has that tumbling effect.
Not a man stopper but when you have a pistol mag of 20rds or a sub gun mag of 50rds they have to stop some time. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

The .40 is like a 9mm and .45 cross breed, it is just about the median of the 2 rounds also.
It does not posses the stoping power of the .45 and cost twice as much as the 9mm.

My favorite handgun round is the .45 though.

Give me a good colt 1911 or Glock 21sf any day.

the new SS197SR toatally lacks penetration

it's loaded with a hornady v-max bullet....which is a varmint bullet designed for rapid expansion

(from what I understand)

I don't really know anything about the ss197sr...
but lets not hijack this thread too much.

I dont know what my uncle was shooting out of his, I think they were just FMJ's.

It did some damage on those coyoties though.

The only thing I have heard about the AP rounds is that they are suposed to be able to penetrate 65 layers of kevlar.

SS192 is not an AP round and its sales have never been restricted to civilians. It is the predeccesor to SS195, the sporting round, and differs only in the type of primer used.It is no longer manufactured.

SS190 is the AP round and the BATF doesn't allow civilian ownership of it.

SS191 is the training round for SS190 and is regulated, I believe by FN against civilian ownership.

There's a couple other rounds, some restricted and some discontinued.

Also the bullets don't tumble. There's a lot of misinformation about the 5.7 round out there anyone interested in learning more about it should check out www.fivesevenforums.com

The stopping power thing can be argued all day. I don't really know the answer. Though I will say having 50 rounds of ammo in a very compact carbine has got to be usefull.
