69-79 I think is a great price.
I would still buy it at 89-99.

Dan said that the spring fever discount would be a large amount toward the knife.
The $25 winning might be 50% or a third of the knives cost, and the $10 might be a fith or eigth.

i can't believe that people would give up the exclusive busse clan steels and pay a price higher than that charged for the dumpster mutt and swarden. you realize that these things were numbered solely to justify a higher price? you realize 154cm is a generic steel? you realize res c is cheap?

i think this thread is risky. maybe i should have more faith in the yard, but if this thread proves that people will pay $100 for anything with a clan logo, what's to stop us from being charged according to that? it's a good design and 154cm is nothin to sneer at, but you were getting higher class knives for $70 from both the swamp and yard.

It's a small shiny scrap yard knife with engraving so I went with 59-69.

I was waiting for this thread to pop with, followed by the "how fast will the MPLE sell out?".

Magnum, I agree and disagree with you.

I agree with you with that 154cm is a generic steel, res-c is cheaper, and the numbered knives to increase price (I'd prefer the knife w/o the numbers).

I disagree that you aren't getting a high class knife. I think the swarden and DM are great, but how are they higher class? With the exception of the steel, I'd say they are pretty close. Plus you need to take into consideration that since the DMCG days, cost of everything has risen pretty dramatically. But I do see where you are coming from. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I picked 79-89, but after thinking about it, I'd say 59-69.

I was thinking about $80, but I really don't have a clue. I know that 154CM is normally a pricey steel. Knives in 154CM usually cost more than those in 440C or 420HC. Seems like every month there is a new wonder steel, but I consider 154CM a premium stainless steel.

i knew i shoulda been more explicit when i said "higher class." you say "with the exception of steel" which is exactly what i was referring to. there are 154cm folders on the market for $40, which i would like to point out have moving parts which increase the cost of manufacture and warranty liability. They are also produced on a much larger scale, which decreases the cost per unit, but that should have no bearing on us. what should is the "Price/Performance" ratio. more knife to the dollar.

i wasn't sure whether or not i should mention Camillus, but it's worth explaining that after the shut down they had no choice but to liquidate their assets to pay off their outstanding liabilities meaning they had to take what they could get which i would bet was below fair market value. this knife can sell with a huge markup as the steel was probably a bargain purchase. the savings can also be passed on to us.

I would also add that the heat treating should be much better than whats used on the $40 knives.
