My Dad smoked for 30 years and one day he stopped to get some more cigarettes and got pissed about the price and just stopped. He also stopped drinking at the same time as he could not drink without having a smoke. He hasn't smoked in 25 years now.

I paid $4+ for gas yesterday. It made me want to not drive. I'm well beyond the rough part now. I tried something a little different this time. I've quit several times for more than a month. The thing that gets me is I'm always surrounded by smokers at work.

This time, on my equivalent of a thursday and friday, I reduced my dosage as low as I could stand and still maintain emotional control and mental performance. As soon as I got off of work, I didn't have any nicotine, caffeine, or highly processed food for 3 days. It was pretty brutal and I was completely useless the first 2 days, but it was very worthwhile.

Usually when I withdraw I just replace it with caffeine, only no amount is enough, and I still feel off and slow no matter how overstimulated I am. Now I feel fine with less than half as much caffeine, instead of still not feeling fine with twice as much.

I also cut my calories about in half, but kept up my essential fatty acids, antioxidants, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. After the 3rd day I went back up to normal caloric intake but I'm still staying away from all the bad stuff. I feel so much cleaner than I normally do at this point.

No time like the present.
