Tony, taking care of a leather sheath is no big deal really, as long as their made right in the first place and as long as their kept clean and dry. I add a water resistant protective coating and most other makers do as well. So it takes some pretty good abuse or a real soaking to cause any real concerns. If it was to get really wet, usually as long as it's given ample time to dry with everything removed it'll most likely be fine once dry. If it ever becomes too dry and stiff, some Saddle Soap, or Mink Oil will do the trick. If you feel like it needs more water proofing, something like Sno-seal should work, or I usually use Satin Shene, or Block-out. Generally leather is easy to care for unless you really abuse it in a tough environment.
