Darkaether- INFI and res-C, ah how sweet that is! I like my SS4 a great deal, but I don't think that we'll ever see that combo again in the yard. (You'd think with all Jerry's handle options he'd do res-C but no. Odd..)

It seems that Jerry really likes mixing handle materials together.

The custom shop ones are just crazy with their handles (personally I think it look really ugly).

At risk of starting a flame war I think almost all Busse Combat knives are a bit ugly. There are times I like my Badger Attack Tac and even on those days I still think it's ugly! If you look at a Busse compared to a Bark River knife (AD v. Bravo 1 for example) the Barkie looks nicer, looks more expensive and <most> examples will probably be better finished.. But the AD will survive things that would kill the B1 (but the B1 has been adopted by the USMC so it's got to be pretty tough).

Anyway, why someone would want to replace res-C with micarta is beyond me!

+1 on replacing Res-C with Micarta. I for some reason don't like the rough feel of unfinished canvas micarta. Barkies do come with a better fit and finish on the handles.

Though, I could be a little biased on this one, but I think the FBM is just so freaking sweet looking. I love the feel of the sculpted G-10. But, as I said, I could be a little biased on this one.

Actually the G10 on my HCLE IS very nice.. Also the handle proportions are very good, it fits the hand well. (Darn shame the steel isn't a bit tougher!!). In hand the HCLE feels as good as the SS4 imho, but then the SS4 protects you from the cold and possibly electrocution too..

I don't know, but I think the mudder handles look much more comfortable than the HCs' handles.

I really want to try some Mudders, but there aren't any models that I like.

I would be quite nice to have a Bog Dog, but those are rare these days.

for a while I have wondered how hard it would be to rehandle a Yard knife. I did a Cold Steel SRK as an experiment a while back, but I keep wanting to try rehandling another knife! I've got a SOG Seal 2000 that I took the handle off of, but I never got around to putting anything back on it. I really want to give it a try a good non-stainless knife like my Yard Guard or DM.

I suspect that the hardest part would be making the holes in the tang for the pins. You'd have to anneal the knife to drill it, then re-heat treat it when you were done, which would probably wreak havoc on the paint.

You might get away with torching or plasma cutting the holes?

Also, I suspect the tang in these knives wouldn't be the exact shape of your handle so you'd be looking at either a hidden style or some kind of epoxy fill between your slabs to bring the gap flush.

I wonder if anyone's cut the respirene off a DM to have a look at it?

I was Thinking of picking up a second CG DM and having it modified, just because I love the Blade design and everything the DM stands for ....I love the value SY offers and the bullet proof designs I was not Disrepecting that issue,I just thought I would like to see one before I did it.... I like the Res.C handle fits my hand well but I love micarta as well...
