See, that might alleviate boringness of it (if it is boring? I'm not sure. Is it?) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

wow!
when I read that first post I thought it was going to be a little dent in the blade, (because SY's get hem alot actually) but wow...
thats not very typical of a SY... I've went through nails (multiple at the same time) with my DFLE and never got stuff that bad. I've pried some nails with my yardkeeper using the edge near the choil and didn't get anything that baf either. you didn't put it in any fire previously did you?
( <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> you never know. lol)

but anyways cool test!
glad you like it!

Well,

I'm hoping it won't happen again. It is a really awesome little knife and I love using it.

And no I did not put it in the fire prior to the first test. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Nice sharp.

I have had dents in the edge of my yardhook several times after going through frozen hard wood or batoning through nails.

You have to watch the heat treat on that knife, it can lose it faster then you would think.

My uncle screwed up the HT on his machete in a few seconds.

I imagine that sr-77 wont lose it as fast but iits better safe then sorry.

Don't worry. Knives are sharpened at the factory on belt sanders. If one is removing a lot of stock, the blade can heat up. I keep a container of ice water handy and dunk periodically to keep the steel cool. Usually in ordinary sharpening, the blade is kept moving and the steel doesn't heat up much. Now a bench grinder can overheat a blade very quickly.
