cause I always thought the black SYKW finish and the Tan would be the same...
I think we would be told about it if that was true.
maybe busse finish is diffeent, but I would think SYKW finsihes would not differ.

not personnaly experience, it could be the different grinds on the blade that make some finishes hold up differently.
Yes this is from personal experiance.
The height of the grind on the yardhook and DFCG are about the same.
It took only batoning one midsized piece of oak to expose bare metal on the DFCG, with the tan hook it to something like 4.
SYKCo uses the same blade finishes as busse, the coatings are different in durability between them(different color=more or less durability).
The black coating is thinner when applied then the tan one, the black also feels rougher.
The tan coating being thicker it takes more to rub it off.
I'm not the only person that has found tan to be more durable, there was a discusion about it on BF awhile back.
