ok I thought it had something to do with Horn Dog, but did not know he did this for other's. So HD is this something I can have done on my blades? By the way very very nice work.

Horn Dog is also known as the "Grindmaster Funk of the Third World Grind Shop"!

very, very nice, sharp! i'm very nearly inspired to go ruin some steel in my quest to be merely 1/10 as good as HD on the HF grinder - it's in the garage taunting me!

I can do a good edge but it takes weeks of hand grinding. I wish I had the guts to have at with the grinder like Vic. To do good with the grinder you have to be smooth and confident in one smooth easy motion and it is hard when you are thinking "I have 300$ worth of knife I am grinding on". It would come out serrated.

Sharpening comes easy for me. Now splitting wood...that requires some serious confidence and complete concentration. And quite a bit of physical stamina, which I lack. Toward the end, I was getting tired and not hitting where I intended. I found that if I just relaxed, with the axe or maul hanging straight down behind me, took a deep slow breath, concentrated on the target, and committed with no reservations, I could split those logs perfectly in one blow. That cutting and splitting kicked my butt, but it was good to get it done. When I watch Ax Men, I am in awe. Now those guys are good! Not anyone could do what those men do all day. I think anyone could learn knife sharpening on a belt grinder.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I think the photos of that huge maple all sliced up in fireplace sized chunks proves you have more stamina than you are giving yourself credit for.
My back hurt just looking at the photos.

I also thought the wood curls were a great idea to show and to test you new HD edges. I can't wait to see a photo of them all shined up.

Does anyone know what exactly is in Renwax?

Renwax is microcrystalline fossil wax which has been chemically worked over to remove any potentially damaging acids before packaging.

It amused me that 'Sharp' started a thread about 'Edges'!! Just as well Vic had been involved!!

Vic, I wish we were in the same country..
