well, if you go to the west their is the appalacian trail at least. If I go the the south their is the pine barrens.... I actually kind of know of a place I might be able to go out in the woods... I'm not sure though.

now you guys need to take it a step further and sleep out their for a night or two.
when you use your knife to keep you warm and fed all night long you develop a whole new respect for it and understanding of it and when you do it by yourself you develop and new understanding of yourself.
i enjoy the freedom of camping by myself so much i wont bring anyone else with me except my son or my dog.
start small with one night and work your way up if you havnt already.

We were hoping to quite some time ago.
The shelter would have worked quite nicely with some more thatching.

yeah, we're planning to do at least an over-nighter on a few occasions this summer. I guess the only issue with that, since we're only teenagers, is that our parents aren't too hot on the idea of us staying out overnight by ourselves

Sharp and CloaknDagger - GREAT pictures. I will be up in the northwest for 33 days at Fort Lewis Washington, but we wont be building any fires sadly. We will be calling for FIRE!

You should visit OR for awhile as well.
That way I can test out the S6.

Nice, R.Seed, have you ever been to Ft. Lewis? Its a nice area, but you had better like rain if you'll be spending any time there outside the summer. I pass by whenever I drive from Portland to Seattle, it seems HUGE! I once pulled off the highway to switch drivers and accidentally pulled into the Fort Lewis driveway and narrowly avoided having to explain myself to the gate guards! ha ha ha good times.
