Personally I would recommend either.
The DFCG is a great chopper, as most everyone has stated.
The BR however, would be more versatile as a camp knife. Thinner and lighter.
Both are great knives and you can't go wrong with either.

what if being rare doesn't matter?
for a pure chopper (the battle rat is lighter and probably good at machette work too) I would go DFCG. my goal would be to get both. my strategy would be to get the rarer one while I can if I couldn't afford both right now. The battle rat isn't exactly soft on performance. Dan certainly isn't obligated to make any more dog fathers, but I am very confident that he will. Even if he doesn't, you can still find another DFCG 10X easier than another battle rat. Once you have both, you can make your own decision which is better for you and either keep both or let one go. While I really like both of them, I like the battle rat more.

I'm confident that Dan will remake the DF. I don't know about 2 weeks, but it's an awesome knife for the money, truly a "superior performance to price ratio".

I'd probably get the Battle Rat. Primarily because I see the Dogfather for sale fairly often, but it's rare I see a Battle Rat. And when I have, they've gone fast.

Most of the fellas here have far more experience than I when it comes to knives, but if it were me, I would get the Dog Father. That is the one knife I have wanted to get since I have known of SYCO. A new DG is a dream catch. If you have the chance to get this knife, then GET IT! Or... Let me have it! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
