Would you buy a Srap Yard knife with no coating and a convexed edge if the price was about the same as a coated version?
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

O-yeah I'm in
I must say for my use the coating seems a very good idea, & looks cool to boot . But saying that I can see no rust on my LE as yet. We'll see how she goes for three days on the hip in the rain. Tipping all going to be fine.
338, it just rolls off the tongue.

I'd go with Bruce on this one. If the only difference is coated vs non-coated with a carbon steel knife, I'll take coated (particularly if it's tan). I ordered Busse Combat CEs because the steel is, if not stainless, very stain-resistant. However, I'll buy what's available.

The CE would come with a sharp convex edge.

Who cares? I can always send my coated blade to the TWGS for "the treatment" (or take it to my local knifesmith). It will come back at least as sharp as anything that leaves the Busse factory!!! Maybe, mabe not. I haven't yet received by Sarsquatch CE so I don't know how sharp they come. Plus, after I do that, the knife is no longer "original", but modified. Come to think of it, I should encourage more dull knives being sold. Lately, I have had quite a few brand new ones to sharpen for folks.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

dan would probably have to retain the nasty scrapes he conceals under the coating, though.
