I think you'll need a longer handle. Maybe 2.5 or 2 times longer. It will balance much better in general and make use easier.

My double Res-C idea is pretty cool, but I still think the handle needs to be longer to balance the knife.

I meant for the drawing to have similar proportions to the AK, but I screwed up.

I like the way your double res-c handles look, but I think overal, the straight res-c would be more universal.

No, no, no I don't think you screwed up. With a design like, on a smaller scale, it would make a pretty darn good wakizashi.

The straight Res-C might also cut down on cost as well. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

But the double might have some interesting virtues that I don't know of.

Heheh, true. I'll draw a better picture tonight of what my ideal SY sword would look like.

While waiting for Dan to make a sword for us, I made one my one <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
Took a "spare" Linder machete and turned it into this shortsword or what to call it
[Linked Image from i283.photobucket.com]

43cm long and 4mm thick blade, 19cm handle in black canvas micarta

Tried to split a phonebook <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> (4cm thick)

Sometimes itīs good to have a stumb in your livingroom <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Very cool Simon. A stump in your living room makes perfect sense to us!

Haha, that's great man! Impressive job hacking at that phone book, it bit deep.

Great sword! And I have to get me a stump now. If only the wife would understand...hmmm.
