The secondary market is a necessary evil in a free market. I have gotten to like it because I can buy a knife and even if it is 80$ more than retail I can still get 100% of my cash back. However when I buy most anything else in the world including most knives ,if I want to sell if even a few days after I am lucky to get half. I look at the secondary market price as the 'real" price and the rare release as a special treat and a great time to buy trade fodder. Also you can "play the market" if you know it well.

I see the secondary market as the price to pay for those w/o timely funds and/or Internet access <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> .

Being able to choose which knife you get is another reason the secondary market is worth more. You can get pretty much any Bussekin knives there but if you wait for a release it is only 1 or 2 knives you might not want. I don't get why people are so annoyed about the secondary market. No "makes" you buy them ,you could just wait for the knives to come out. The BusseKin companies really have about 3 knives with 3 different steels. Small medium and large. If you were not around for the SS4 ,the S6 or the DFLE you will be for the Muppy ,S7 and S9 this coming year.

The secondary market also gives you a cooling off period. Its very easy to get caught up in the frenzy at release time and buy something you regret.

I don't have that problem, since I have to scrimp and save to get the knive I want. I have to be very selective in what to spend my money on.
