Wow, great test pics!
The Muppy with it's thicker SS4 style tip (as seen on Vic's pics (I think!)) will be a great user.. Glad the pics finally came out.

I never had any worries about the 154. I do prefer the looks of the HC to th looks of the Muppy just because I love the look of the black G10 and satin.
I would like to see some more 154 knives like a skelly and a hunting knife like fallknivens S1.
How about some edge tests though?

To quote The Big Dog... The only thing I ask of our customers is to be treated fairly. I ask that we be given a first look at any damaged knives that the Yard puts out in order to assess what may have gone wrong BEFORE you post pics and cause numerous orders to be canceled. We don't have anything to hide, and we would appreciate the opportunity to not be “blind-sided” by an unexpected occurrence where every self-proclaimed expert can spout off about how our equipment is defective and sub-standard without having any real facts to back up their claims. We will always do our best to treat our customers with fairness and honor and we ask the same in return. And let's please stop the grade school level heckling about how folks have to be overly cautious with their 154CM Scrap Yard blades. We are all above that. END Quote.
Dan,thanks for the heartfelt words. The P.o.P. could not agree more!
You deserve all the above treatment and when it comes to Scrap Yard products..even more! The Dogs have way to much love equity built up in honoring Scrap Yard knives and if anyone should show respect and decorum it is The Dogs of The Yard.
Those pics are deadly too Dan. Although I have to admit I have cleared small limbs from trees, split kindling, gardened weeds and more with my Scrap yard Stainless.
Since I was astute enough to buy one of each model released at Blade I find that I already know what the pics in this post show.
My Scrap Yard Stainless Rocks!
You would yank my warranty if your saw how many chores I use the Bird and Pup on. Now that we live on a farm it seems every day if fraught with knife tasks.
I have since day one treated these Stainless Mudders like I would SR-77. Screw it,these are Scrap Yard knives. Why would I even think of babying these?
I am carrying both of mine daily since they came. And I use the crap out of them all day long! Great job on these Dan.
I couldn't be happier with the letters and numbers!
Peace.

I have seen posted pictures on this very forum of damaged Dog Fathers. They were posted before the knives were returned and the cause of the problem determined. These users were not accused of blind siding or causing cancelled orders. I honestly thought that people seeing my post would plainly see exactly what I did to break the knife and refrain from doing that to theirs. I admitted from the beginning that I put too much lateral force on the tip. I futher stated that I did not see anything wrong with the knife. If anyone cancelled ordering a HCLE on the basis of my pictures, maybe it is because they wanted something more heavy duty than these very nice EDC knives. As for cancelled Scrap Yard orders, the last SY knives offered that I know of were DMDC SR77 knives. These knives are very different from the HCLE I broke the tip on. I certainly did not post my review to cause cancelled orders. I regret that my review may have caused some cancelled pre-orders of HCLEs from the Swamp. I never claimed to be a steel expert or anything like that. I just did a little review of a new knife and accidentally broke the tip doing a test I have done many times before without mishap. So it is ok to post a review with pictures as long as everything goes well, but not if it goes poorly? I will abide by whatever the forum rules are today . Whew. Glad I didn't break it.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

So it is ok to post a review with pictures as long as everything goes well, but not if it goes poorly? i've been thinkin hard about that for the past month. if, hypothetically, dan slapped some res c on a chinese 420j2 curvy thing and we all thought it sucked, would we be called childish pansies for complaining before we were banned? some people were quite zealous about the issue, but they still followed the forum rules, which did not include "no negative opinions on scrappers." another thing we learned in the marketing course i just took are there are two types of publicity, controlled (paid advertisements) and uncontrolled (word of mouth/mouse). these forums work like a free press, i like to think. Dan could have silenced the voices that allegedly cost him hundreds of sales by posting these pics sooner but that didn't happen. Rather than educate them sooner, they were threatened. "Just ban 'em, Tom." It's like your forum avatar gets the guillotine for speaking against the state. It wouldn't save those sales, either. BF and KF are much more widely read and it's no sweat for someone with a grudge to just click over there, repost the opinion to the larger community, along with a story of how they were banned for having an opinion which was wrong but based on the evidence was justified. I am thankful to the mods for not banning my friends, though. You know that this forum is more about the people than the knives. We could meet anywhere, but choose the yard.

Guys - Let's not forget that this IS the ScrapYard, where mutual respect is expected and afforded to all Dogs, including the Owners! Dan has simply asked to be treated fairly and given the chance to resolve any problems BEFORE it is posted on the forums, thereby causing unwarranted concerns. WE expect to be treated fairly, shouldn't he?!?
Vic -Horn Dog- meant no harm in his review, although he should have contacted Dan first. We all enjoy and appreciate his testing and reviews, including Dan. When I spoke with Vic on the phone he said that he regretted ever posting about his HC, and that he tried to explain that he abused his blade. I met Vic at Blade last year, and I can tell you that he is a man of his word!
As far as being banned is concerned, neither ColdOne or I approach the subject lightly. We both try to take at least 24 hours - a "cooling off" period, before we take any actions, and even then we consult each other about the problem involved. The only person I banned was the result of his cussing me out after I warned him about using the forum and private messages to berate and bad-mouth fellow forumites. That guy has a REAL problem!
From now on, let's all remember that mutual respect is appreciated and expected here. If anyone has a problem with a knife, give Dan a chance to take care of it first! Most of us have expressed our appreciation for Dan's approach to business - "Superior performance to price ratio". Let us show him the respect he deserves! Tom
