I believe Dan got the message concerning poor communication and the problems it causes. Also, HornDog is NOT looked upon as a "bad guy" or "guilty party" for posting his results - he is very much appreciated. I think we can let this part of the thread pass on by.

We have to keep in mind that everybody involved ,Dan ,Vic and our great and understanding mods are dealing with things as they happen. I understand how Dan and company would feel a bit blindsided by all the hullabaluo. They had gone out on a bit of a limb making knives that were thinner and better cutting tools but not quite as burly as the usual Yard fare.
I think what Dan and the guys want is simply to be treated fairly.
More than anything it was the timing of the HC failure post that threw them for a loop. Really it was not Vic because he made sure to point out that it was just the very end of the tip. It was other people who really blew it all out of proportion. I mean would any other knife company get that kind of response if someone stuck the small pointy tip of an stainless EDC in some hardwood and it broke?
I had 5 HC's preordered and never once considered not getting them. I feel sorry for those who canceled their orders because as far as I know the only G10 grips are from either the Blade show or preorders.
There was a similar thing that happened with a skeleton key where some one stuck it in a concrete block and kicked it. It was also a failure right at the end of the tip.
I hope this does not mean there won't be more stainless knives? We at least need a skelly and a hunting knife as well something along the lines of a Buck hartsook would be great as well.

I absolutely hope the stainless knives succeed. I like them all, so far. Had I known all this would result, I would never have posted that review at all. It was a freak thing. If I had hit the HC one more time and driven it deeper, none of this would have happened. I can't see the stainless not succeeding. What ever Busse is doing they're doing it well. Don't beat your self up HD. Growing up I left my share of knife tips in trees LOL. Actually if you had driven it in farther I believe it would have still broke (unless of coarse you didn't bend it as far). The lateral stress on the tip is incredible. The MPs tip is more for detailed work but even so the knife is far tougher than I was expecting... Keep the reviews coming please

I like the Stainless knives. It seems like some people are having a hard time understanding that they won't be replacing the Sr77 knives. Rather they are making the type of knives out of stainless that would not work well with Sr77.
so did we ever find out if there were preorders for the Muppy? If so why did we not hear about them?

What is most frustrating and ironic is the fact that I was one of those clamoring for some stainless scrappers and rats. I think the HCLE is just plain gorgeous. I really want a 4" version. I think they and the SYs will do well now that people can see the more complete truth about how tough these blades are. I have used my Mud Puppy quite a bit, and not just indoor stuff. It is a very tough little knife, way tougher than my big folders. Anyway, onward and upward as they say. yeah, first you clamored for Satin, and we got a ton of Satin stuff out, then mudders and Stainless and "Waa Laa!" would you please ask for leggy Red Heads that work for the beer companies next please!
