Sweet SR77 toy Vic! They are a lot of fun and will take a bit of hard use!

Went against some oak branches today. Initial impressions? Oak beats up on the crinkle pretty good, the toe of the main edge rolled ever so slightly. The CA tends to want to fly out of the hand when striking objects on a horizontal plane. This is with both bare hands and leather gloves. But then again, this is an entry axe meant to be used against doors, windows and objects on a vertical plane. Accumulated dirt and debris within the grooves of the G-10 only serve to reduce overall grip and control. Rougher, deeper textured grooves would help. Shorter and more compact than I had envisioned, even with manufacturer dimensions clearly called out. All in all, my fave Bussekin buy thus far .

Overall size and length compared to a Polarion PH50...

I’ve had some near mishaps with mine. The straight handle can slide out of your hand on chops, especially when wearing gloves. I recommend a lanyard.

Nice CAs everyone! And that black kydex sheath is sweet! Wish I had the extra money to spend.

Yep, I was about to say, "a 'safety' lanyard should be on that axe."

That means a piece of string around the 2nd or 3rd rivet from the bottom.

If you don't know what I'm talking about here is a pic of a "safety" lanyard on my FBM, it's quite useless on this knife.

I might put a safety lanyard on mine. After I learn how to stick it better. I got out the WD-40 and Scotchbrite pad and cleaned off the dirt and sap. This is my first axe of this type. I like it even better than I thought I would. I had not planned on throwing it, but now that I think about it, it is less likely to break than my hawk.

Disclaimer: No Swamp Rat products were damaged during this review . Always wear a horned safety helmet. Get out of the way if it comes back at you. Check with local laws before carrying. Keep out of reach of children. Keep arms, hands, feet, toes, and fingers out of the path of the blade. Do not use the spike on the end to clean your ears. Do not operate if under the unfluence of drugs or alcohol.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Will be needing a Kydex sheath for the CA soon, Rainwalker [Linked Image from scrapyardknives.com] . While I am certain that more elegant solutions exist, this is my take on a CA lanyard: Take a SureFire Z33 and cut to fit. I shortened the original lanyard by five inches, allowing for enough freedom of movement to hold the axe in a multitude of positions. Terminated with a lanyard whistle from Eric Isaacson .
