lol I can spell! I just need to try a little harder, type a little slower, and re-read my posts.
but it's 2.27 am so uh... yeah. I don't see that happening right now.
and I'm not saying "pot makes you stupid" but over a long period of time I think, like anything else, it can be damaging.

but I do think it is pretty understood that marijuana causes brain damage. A few links for ya... OK, how many of you have heard that marijuana causes brain damage? Would you like to know the source of this information? Some 22 years ago, two Rhesus monkeys were continuously exposed to doses of marijuana up to 200 times the psychoactive dose for humans. Researcher Robert Heath observed changes in the brain wave patterns of the monkeys. Even though the brain waves returned to normal within an hour after administration of the drug, Robert Heath predicted that long-term exposure would produce permanent brain damage. Even after numerous studies with equipment far superior to that of Heath's, no other researchers have been able to produce evidence of brain damage. thanks andy. those are some interesting links for sure. the first uses terms like "found only a "very small" impairment in memory and learning among long-term marijuana users" which can be kinda relative terms... but it seems their is some good info in them.

In my ridiculously misspent youth I tried all the drugs available in Vancouver in the 90's(sometimes all at once) and I turned out OK eventually.
As far as kids doing it I think it should be up to parents to "parent" their kids not the government.
I could even understand prohibition if it was effective. But giving control of a multibillion dollar industry and major smuggling routes into our country to the control of organized crime seems to be a bit of a security problem. Still everybody loves Canada so were OK.
I see the drug prohibition and gun control as the same thing. People deciding for us that our civil liberties are to dangerous for us to have. I am a Canadian but I think the US had the greatest system of government ever when the Constitution and the Bill of Rights were written. Actually Ho Chi Min felt the same way ironically. The citizen soldier and the second amendment along with that creative and independent drive make the US unique of all the countries in the world. For example if you have some extra cash buy some Ford stock. The economic downturn is just enough to make manufacturing in the US profitable again while it has gone up everywhere else. It also looks good for other US manufacturers like a certain Knife company. Wow a mention of knives.

Check out this evil thing. It was a golok. Now it is the Satilla Scimitar Camp Knife. Not available in stores. Holy Snikeys! Did you ever take a lot of material off that blade! How long did it take you? It looks nice; I doubt I'd have the guts to do it to one of my knives though!

It took about three hours. Wore out three belts. I got the Bay De Noc, but it is more of a camp carver. What I really wanted was one like the golok but pointy. So I did it myself. It is shaving sharp all the way to the pointy point.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Here are some mods of an Ontario CT1 I did. First, the final result. ![[Linked Image from i282.photobucket.com]](http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk255/backyardbushman/Modified%20Ontario/IMG_1014.jpg) Now the details. These are the mods that I did. I made sure that the spine was nice and square. For firesteel striking and shredding tinder. ![[Linked Image from i282.photobucket.com]](http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk255/backyardbushman/Modified%20Ontario/IMG_1018.jpg) I made the area close to the tip nice and rounded for comfortable grip when using as a draw knife. ![[Linked Image from i282.photobucket.com]](http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk255/backyardbushman/Modified%20Ontario/IMG_1017.jpg) I convexed the entire edge. ![[Linked Image from i282.photobucket.com]](http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk255/backyardbushman/Modified%20Ontario/IMG_1016.jpg) Finally, I put a sharp, scandi section one the blade close to the handle. There is a slight dip, but that is due to the grind that was originally on it. I did this at 10 degrees per side, and it is very sharp. ![[Linked Image from i282.photobucket.com]](http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk255/backyardbushman/Modified%20Ontario/IMG_1015.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i282.photobucket.com]](http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk255/backyardbushman/Modified%20Ontario/IMG_1019.jpg) To be continued.....

I actually took pics doing the mods. The first step I did was squaring the back against the flat platen. ![[Linked Image from i282.photobucket.com]](http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk255/backyardbushman/Modified%20Ontario/IMG_1009.jpg) I removed the platen for some slack convex grinding. ![[Linked Image from i282.photobucket.com]](http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk255/backyardbushman/Modified%20Ontario/IMG_1010.jpg) On the back too. ![[Linked Image from i282.photobucket.com]](http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk255/backyardbushman/Modified%20Ontario/IMG_1011.jpg) Finally, the most time consuming part....the scandi grind. I titled my platen head forward 10 degrees. I have a high tech "block of wood" that helps me get a good grind The blade against the wood eliminates any hand "wobble" and makes for a real nice scandi grind. ![[Linked Image from i282.photobucket.com]](http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk255/backyardbushman/Modified%20Ontario/IMG_1012.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i282.photobucket.com]](http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk255/backyardbushman/Modified%20Ontario/IMG_1013.jpg) I took all edges all the way down to 9 micron, and then a leather belt with polish compound. Overall, I am very happy with the way it came out. The next ones I do may be slightly different, but I am okay with this for now. Any ideas for anything different? Do you like it, not like it? Brian

Nice, but I gotta ask... Where do you guys get these awesome belt grinders? I've yet to find anything remotely close to compare to what I've seen of yours and Horn Dogs' units.
