I love it. A great place to pick up something you may have missed, or did not have the funds for previously.

Do any of you generous and altruistic people want to sell me an SS4 for a dollar ?

Or perhaps even better, buyers educate yourselves! You too can buy directly from the manufacturers if you take the time to learn how.

Well, kind of. If you are new to the Busse kin knives, and you see all of these great looking blades, naturally you are going to want one. While you can learn how to buy the next release by quiting your job and sitting in front of your computer 24/7 waiting and waiting for them to pop up in the company store for who knows how long. The only way you can buy most of the earlier models is on the secondary market. The secondary market is a necessary evil when it comes to Busse kin knives if you want access to each and every blade. About the best thing you can do is be patient and just watch them all. Every chance you get check the "for sale" sections on the various forums. Heck, I sometimes check them at 2 or 3am in the morning when I get up to get a drink or whatever. Ever so often deals do pop up, but you have to be ready to pounce!

I was really interested in how this poll was going to turn out.
I would like the secondary market better if I could stop myself from paying to much just because I want something NOW!

One thing I noticed is the people who hate it never get good deals because they spend to much time mulling it over and if you see a good deal you have to be fast and decisive. I know I priced something right like when I sold my YKCG a while ago
because I got 3 "Ill take it"'s in the first 5 minutes. The guy who got it took about 35 seconds to decide.

I think I am getting pretty good at this secondary market thing. When I sell something I take several good recent photos and write a little mini review on the knife or anything you want to sell.

When you are looking at a knife say on BF you have to consider all the info not just the knife. Is the seller a well known and reliable guy is a biggie.
How long has the knife been for sale. 7 or 8 bumps means all the regulars looked and did not buy it so you have to ask yourself why.

Sometimes you can find a good knife that has not sold because of a bad advert and offer the seller a deal. I got my SH-E user for a decent price because it had not sold because of the awful photo.

Users or ads without photos can also be good deals. So can knives that are under appreciated like recurves or weird looking ones like the Sus Scrofa and the Scotch Dispenser.

I had to say "I love it" because without it I'd never have been able to get either an SS4 or my INFIcoots -- they were long sold out by the time I found out about them. I make efforts to check in frequently so that i can get release prices for most knives, but without the secondary market, you'd be SOL on anything you missed.

The advantage we have in The Yard is that Dan gives us a 48-hour notice before he sells Scrap Yard knives and he always sells them in the evenings or on weekends. That way, most people who want them have a chance to get them. Those who can't be at the right place at the right time normally arrange in advance to have proxies purchase on their behalf.

I did not know that. You see, that is a prime example of someone not educating themselves(namely ME!), and because of it I will now open mouth and insert foot.

However, what I said still applies to Busse and Swamp Rat knives as well as any knives that have already been released before someone becomes familiar with the brand.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I thought the pre-order deal that Swamp Rat did on the HCs was a great idea!

I have to say I love it because I buy knives at the second market. But I hate greedy people just buy and sell for profit (I probably would have done it too if I could)

I love it.
People sell their knives for what they know they can get out of it.
If someone really wants a knife, they will pay a premium.
it seems most the people who hate it are just the people who can't afford what they want.

I think the secondary market is good for these knives SY SW and Busse, because these knives can be hard to get ahold of even at release and if someone decides to sell on the secondary market a knife they no longer need then someone who missed out get's a chance to have one.On the other hand people who snag up all they can because they know if they sit on them for awhile they can charge an outragious amount, that's kinda greedy. It's always obvious who the greedy are at the Forums Market.Just remember if there's a certain model you're looking for shop for a week or two don't just grab the first one you see, someone is always willing to make a better deal.

It's mainly love with a little hate for me. I do like the idea of getting what I want when I want, if needed.

If the price$$$ is too high, I will leave it. But saying that. We MUST remember, you're getting allot of knife for your hard earned. And that person has paid for it, put it away. So in theory, his money is invested in that item.
A good way to look at it is. I keep all my money on my home-loan/morgage, so every second of the day my hard earned$$$ is working(less interest I need to pay) for me. I can tell you now, that this system is far more profitable$$$ for me than buying knives, & selling later. But that's what makes the world a grand place, everyone too their own

We also must remember, some do it as a business. Which IMO is fare enough. Just as long as they provide a quality service, with prices not over the top. But if they do, we all can just say no thank you

338, it just rolls off the tongue.
