Choose one for blade shape and utility, regardless of the handle material. Which one do you guys prefer? I am back in the CustomGanzaaaaa game!

I've been looking at both myself and I like both of them. I like the shape of the Mean Street blade a little better.

I have and like the ADs better. There's something about the MS that does not really appeal to me.

I had a Meaner Street. The talon hole was right where a finger choil should be. I prefer the SS4. If they come up again, I'd prefer the 4" HCSE. For an EDC type knife, it doesn't need to be the more costly INFI, IMO.

Meaner is greater than AD

perfect balance
great fit
full heal (skull crusher)
larger but still great leverage

My AD left me bored, the Meaner excites

but both collect dust while my Dmutt rides with me everywhere

What he said!

I like'em both, but I just like the overall feel and function of the MS better.

I agree about the HCSE in regards to guard/choil areas. I feel the HCSE has a better choil/guard area. The handles are a toss-up. Both the HCSE and MS / AD (Same handle) have good handles IMO. But, the Choil/Talon Hole just kills the AD and MS for me (sorry to those who already know my rant... ) - I tried many times and spent many hours pondering how to modify the current choil and Talon Hole to be more functional and I couldn't come up with an acceptable solution.

I agree and don't feel that a 3.5" - 4.0" blade needs to be the very costly INFI. But, INFI is very good steel for any size blade and still arguably (in my book) the best "Busse" steel (maybe "ANY" steel if not for price) for ANY size blade small or large. However, the prices for INFI on smaller blades are very hard for me to justify. I find the mid-sized knives or larger knives to offer more bang for the buck with INFI.

For large blades, it is MEGA-Tough. For smaller blades, it still gets razor sharp, holds a good edge, is reasonably easy to give an edge and isn't too terribly rust prone.

If cost is no concern, INFI is still pretty hard to beat even in small knives.

My second choice for small knife "Busse options" steel has to easily go to SR-101. It is also VERY good steel for many blade sizes. It is very tough, gets razor sharp, holds a good edge, but it does rust easily and I don't like coatings or rust. Still, I am a big fan of SR-101.

154CM has been shown to be more than reasonably tough for a smaller knife and is stainless, but I am having some difficulties getting a good edge. It is much harder to sharpen and I can't quite get the razor edge I want yet, but otherwise mine seems to be doing fine. I haven't had time to do much use or take pics yet, but except for being pretty hard to get a razor edge on it, I can't really complain.

* I still haven't ordered all of the fine grits for my belt sander like Vic has, so I am currently shaping with 120 - 220 on my sander and hand stropping the final edge.

To answer the question, I personally prefer the AD over the MS. I LOVE the blade shape of the AD. But, I have tried twice to love the AD and couldn't get over the choil/Talon Hole.

I personally am still holding out for a version without choil and no Talon Hole :

I have the AD, but I'm looking for a MS, and I think the MS is a better knife.

I want the Knifeguy knife in a very thin INFI. The only advantage to INFI in a small knife is it is much easier to sharpen than 154 and it has more rust resistance than SR101. The Swarden was very good but could have been a little leaner.

Seriously that concept looks fantastic. I am tired of the Busse choil especially in small knives. That is one of the reasons I liked the SAR5 so much.

The choil on the Muppy is not bad but that concept knife is just so simple beautiful I may have to pay 100$ and inch to have them make me one.

I like the look of the MS, but the AD is more compact, so is a better EDC in my opinion. Actually, I prefer BADs, but if you like that style blade (and assuming they ever go up online) the MPLE may be your huckleberry. As Vic noted, you probably don't need INFI for a small blade.

Since the Nuke EDC will be my primary EDC, MS variant it is. Thanks again all !
