Wow, I think my computer is finally working right again. Welcome to the yard, sunspot. Grab that DFLE on the exchange if you can. It is my favorite version of the DF. Dan got that one perfect! As of 5 minutes ago it's still there. Not cheap, but it may be tough to find a DF or DFLE for much less anymore.

It was still there when I looked a few minutes ago as well. Hope you have some money kicking around, because if you miss it this time, the price will only go higher as it becomes scarcer to find!

Here's something interesting to wonder about:
Scrapyard knives carry a lifetime warranty, right? So if you ever manage to break your Dogfather (or any other out-of-production model) short of attacking it with a sledgehammer, how does that work. Does Scrapyard whip one up for you from scratch? Do they have a secret surplus packed away in a fortress of solitude? Or are they simply so confident in their product that nobody has actually attempted to get a replacement on an out-of-production piece.
The implications are fascinating.
(This message would look very bad for me if I ever do need to lean on the warranty; it has been classified eyes-only, burn upon receipt.)

I've had the same thought. The Warrany is:
Our guarantee is simple. We warrant your knife against any and all unintentional MAJOR damage for life. The Scrap Yard guarantee is on the knife and NOT just for the original owner.
There is nothing about replacing with a "like" model. Interesting!

I believe that for an out-of-production model they would either replace it with the next closest thing or issue you a shop credit for the original price of the model in question.

Frustrating if "the next closest thing" isn't at all like what you had, but sensible.

What other companies out there give you anything close to that? None other than Busse's that I know of.

Busse has an advantage over may other production companies which is they make the knives. Even if it's out of production they might just whip one up for replacement.

Do you need one, of course you do it's a knife and you like knives.....

Tanks don't like to run over Busse knives - too much work replacing treads!
